Just put mine on! Kinda a pain in the ass with certain bolts but I can feel a solid difference

It definitely tightened ours up. Yes, some of those bolts were a PITA and as you saw, some must be tightened in the correct order. Front frame reinforcement plates are coming this winter.
Just got mine, same kit, waiting on drop brackets, i like retaining oem spec if i can. Mines a 98, auto. 😊

Stock height ?
I would probably suggest stock length sway bar links or try to see if sway bar links from a 94-01 year ram 1500 would fit due to a shorter length. I ran a 3 1/2 lift from Rusty’s OffRoad on my xj and I didn’t want to use a drop bracket for my sway bar. I did some measurement research and an hour at my local parts store an discovered that rear axle sway bars from a 90s f250 Ford fit the front of the xjs perfectly without the need for the drop brackets. I hope this helps or inspires a retro fit

Thanks for the info! I'll look into it. It may not work with our brace though.
You think i will matter if i have a 4.5" lift and have installed a pigman for that lift kit. you think it will affect because this bracket seems to lower the stock one ,so it won't be alot lower with aftermarket one?
@campoutwestus
Жыл бұрын
I don't think it will matter. My pitman has about 1/2" drop over stock. The reinforcement mounts to the pitman arm to steering box nut. That end is still in the factory location even with the dropped arm.
Did you have to have the sway bar drop brackets or was there enough room for them to go back to the stock position

The sway bar will not fit without the brackets. You might be able to use shorter end links, I never got around to experimenting with it. Let me know how it works if you try it.
My frame is cracked that holds the steering box. Bought one of these to hold it, do you think I should weld the crack or just put the brace on
@campoutwestus
3 ай бұрын
I think that welding it first would be best. That being said, the reason that I installed mine was that it has a few cracks. I've got a frame reinforcement kit, but haven't got to it yet. Still, you would hate for it to get worse and turn into a difficult repair.
I would like to know about sway bar angle with stock suspension (height) with the drop bracket.

This one is probably overkill for a stock height XJ. The need to use the sway bar drop brackets is my least favorite part of the design, (most if not all braces with the sector shaft support require the use if them). On my stock height XJ, I'm planning on using the brace from Barnes. It doesn't have the sector shaft brace and doesn't require the drop brackets. barnes4wd.com/products/xj-steering-box-brace

@@campoutwestus I was looking for this becouse this design looks more supportive . But don't know how much the difference will be.
I hope you can answer me, how does this update benefit management performance?

It didn't change the ride quality, but it did tighten up the sloppy steering quite a bit.
Hey man will this work with the antirock? Also is that DIY did skid? If so how is it mounted?
@campoutwestus

Sorry, not sure about the Antirock. I've got one in my upgrade list, so I might have an answer eventually. Diff guard came off of a parts rig, it attached to 4 front cover bolts and has a strap that wraps around the pinion support.

@@campoutwestus did this help with any on Road mannerisms?
@campoutwestus

@@moejr14 it tightened up the steering a bit. I have some small cracks starting in the frame and I didn't want it to get worse. I have a frame plating kit that I will be installing when I have time. It also prolongs the steering box life by supporting the sector shaft bearing.

i just got one of these in the mail and already have an antirock installed on my xj... It seems to fit with the antirock better than with stock swaybar. the stock swaybar has to be removed to mount this brace underneath the stock swaybar, my antirock is mounted closer to the front of the frame and it can remain in place and untouched while installing this brace.
What did you end up doing for sway har links?
@campoutwestus

I didn't change them. They were working fine so I left the Zone ones in there .
How did you torque the sleeve nut to the sector shaft? Cant find a socket deep enough
@campoutwestus

I believe the torque specs is 185 Ft lbs. I used a big wrench and tightened it as tight as possible. I was also unable to find a suitable socket.
