I am not a surfskater but ride wider old school skateboards. I decided to convert one of my older decks to a surfskate just to try, so I could ride outside of skateparks. I purchased carver cx clones from aliexpress. They are awesome and quality seems similar to my normal choice, indie trucks. Very happy and 1/5 price of genuine cx's.

That's great to hear! One thing about surfskate trucks is the cost of the trucks! Glad you got a good clone, stay safe!

Thanks a lot for putting together this video. I always wondered how to change the deck of a Yow board - because the Meraki trucks don't look like normal trucks. I was always wondering - where are those two front bolts ending of the front trucks? You are using clones here, but they probably work the same hahahaha. I ordered a new Yow deck for my current Yow complete setup - let's see how it goes 😅.

Thank you for watching the video. Tough question, when I first started I was using the oxelo trucks, when I switched over to the yow it was a much more fun experience on flat land, on the pump track there was some changes to my technique, but turning was much easier, but I felt pumping was a bit harder. So I learnt to work on my lines through the pump track to keep up my speed. Both have their pros and cons. What I've learnt it that different riders have different preferences. So you just gotta find out what makes you happy out there. Hope it helps. Peace!

planning to do the same for my oxelo board as well. do you need to drill the hole for the back truck as well?

Nope no need. I just left the back truck from the oxelo on. If you want to change the rear tuck there is no need to drill more holes.

Isn't that just new school vs. old school truck hole pattern and not YOW specific?

i also wanted to buy a yow meraki clone but i’m worried about spring quality.what do you think about that?

Hey thanks for the question. Totally understandable about the spring. What I ended up doing is buying a yow S5 spring from my yow dealer here (or you can order from the website) and changed it. Was a bit tighter to ride and better to control. Hope that helps

Long story short, the conversion works. The oxelo trucks are similar to Carver CX trucks so they are more Surf Trainers. Where as the Yow is more like a Surf Simulator. So far I've been happy with the conversion, though it took a little time to get used to

Hey I just checked my my order from aliexpress, unfortunately the listing isnt up anymore. But you can try to Search 'yow meraki' and see what comes up. I usually look at the sales and the shop/item reviews see which ones have the highest.
