Installing a Softopper. 1974-1980 Dodge Ramcharger and Plymouth Trailduster. Soft Top installation.
This video shows the complete installation process of a Softopper top on a 1974 Dodge Ramcharger. This process will be the same for any 1974-1980 Dodge Ramcharger or Plymouth Trailduster.
This kit will take several hours and some reengineering to install. It is a soft top and by its design it is not 100% waterproof but does a decent job of keeping dirt and water out.

That soft top actually looks pretty nice on the Ramcharger. It's kind of rare to see a Ramcharger with that type of top. All in all, not a bad looking truck.

Great Video showing the installation of a SoftTopper, I've got a brand new one sitting in the box next to my wife's 74 Ramcharger that needs to be installed as beach cruising season is almost here. If you were to go back and re-do it, would you have done anything different? Perhaps using RivNuts down the bedside and anywhere else holes were drilled?

I would make the added weatherstripping longer on the doors at the windshield. I ended up needing to add some extra as there was a gap. The hardware for the top of the windshield is junk. I’d go ahead and source better stuff and not bother with using it. On the bed I had to just drill one extra hole at the rear so that wasn’t that big of a deal. The hardware as supplied was fine for the bed sides. Just tight in some places. Otherwise it was decent enough kit. Could be better but it’s the only option for these trucks. It won’t keep all the water out of your truck. Mine leaks around the doors as it’s not the best design. So if you got carpet/rubber flooring you might rethink it if your truck is parked outside mostly.

The top is a brand new one. The video shows the full installation of a new top and hardware that can be purchased.

Maybe if you cut the top off and add a pickup tailgate. Probably require some welding and addition of metal in places.
