6:47 You can find out which is the FM antenna by unplugging one antenna cable at a time with the original radio still connected. If the FM antenna is connected, by hitting the SEEK function from 88.7 to 107.9 FM, you should pick up and lock onto at least 25 stations.

Hi, I am looking to get a 2020 Ford F-150 lariat, and it comes with FordPass connect, which is a service that allows you to start the truck remotely using the app on your phone, plus other features (such as setting the climate). The truck does have remote start option on the remote key fob, but I was wondering if I were to order and install the 15.6" system (which I REALLY want to get), will that system affect FordPass or can I still retain that feature?

You will retain certain parts of the FordPass app. Removing the SYNC module (the factory screen/radio system) takes away some of the apps data inputs. So things like tracking your truck will no longer work. The app will still remote start and lock/unlock the truck. I am not sure how the climate control via app will work. Wasn’t a feature we were able to test in development.

I have another question about this GEN six radio by the way thanks for answering my last question. The current question I have now is where do I find the Linkswell dual USB plate for sale everywhere I’m looking at it seems to be out of stock since I hooked up this radio, as you stated on the video, it will not work with the stock USB cables that are built into the vehicle Underneath the dashboard so I’m wanting to purchase this dual USB plate from somewhere. Not sure if I need the small plate or the large plate looks like I might need the small plate but I want to install it so I can give it that factory look and then put your Radio harness USB installed behind it and I just eliminate the factory ones. The other question I have as well is I would like to disable the auto stop start feature on this vehicle. I bought an auto stop start disabling module from another company, but it won’t fit on this GEN six radio I need to purchase the one that comes for this radio which is the Linkswell version of it. I’m sure that the harness will then fit into this. Please let me know where I can purchase this as well as I’d like to finish and fall this radio and that’s what’s holding me back at the moment. So you should be able to purchase the start stop from any of our dealers. As for the UsB if you used the adapter the factory USBs will work. The only thing they won’t do is CarPlay and with the Gen 6 CarPlay is wireless only. So it doesn’t matter to replace it.

Hey Mr Lewis, I was inspired by you to upgrade my radio to this unit. I purchased this XL unit back in August 2023. I had it professionally installed to prevent any mishaps. The system has been great until this morning started my vehicle and the system didn't boot up. The display screen is black. My system did not have a manual in the box to troubleshoot system. What should I do?

No sure who Mr. Lewis…. If it didn’t boot up use the RST button and see if it boots. If it does I would then check for updates.

We do not have an HD tuner. HD radio is like SiriusXM Radio. Requiring approval and extra parts/cost. With our radio able to do Internet radio we decided that the time, money, and work to do HD radio didn’t make sense in the long run.

Would this installation affect the FordPass app that allows you to start your truck from your phone and get vehicle security notifications?

So the app will function apart from any tracking features. The app gets the location from the SYNc module that gets removed for the install of our radio. Remote start and other functions will remain. Just no GPS tracking.

Which wire on t-style radio harness (gen6) would power up, my aftermarket amplifiers when being hooked up to this t-style unit would it come out of the power harness leading to the t-style radio which is installed behind it or will it come out of another harness within the t-style radio because I’m trying to power up my aftermarket amplifiers, and I think the orange amp EN wire is the wire I would need, which comes out of the T style main harness. Let me know if that’s the one I need to use or if I need to use another. Usually is a blue wire which they call the blue trigger wire a.k.a. primary wire usually it’s a blue and white or solid blue wire. Not sure if it’s the same on his radio or if it changes. Please let me know because I’m stuck now

They have the same dash board but different AC controls. We are working on one but this one specifically will not. We hope to release an Expedition one hopefully early December.

Here’s another question I know I got many questions. On this GEN 6 radio I’m planning on installing the auto stop start linkswell brand eliminator. Well this completely eliminate the auto stop start or will it just remember whatever I had it set on the last the time for example if I was turned it off earlier this morning and then turn the car off and then later on, I decide to drive my car again and turn it back on or will it still be on the off position, will I be able to use it whenever I want to and remember the last setting I had it on or will it completely eliminated please let me know

I have owned the screen for a little over 6 months now, I couldn’t be happier. Worth every cent.

On my 2020 Ford F150 before installing the 12.1 gen 6 radio I use to be able to hear all of the factory chimes on all the door speakers but now that I installed this radio I can only hear the chimes on the ford little buzzer speaker not on my door speakers. Is there a setting that I need to enable or is this is how it’s going to be going forward

OK I’m having trouble with my linksWells GEN 6 12.1 screen it’s giving me a message about emergency I must’ve gotten some kind of unlock code typed in the wrong way. Go to settings/system/factory reset. That will fix it

I plan on doing some oem modifications to my 2018 F-150 XLT like the 360 camera, heated steering wheel & adding cooled seats also. Will all those options still work with the Linkswell as long as all the oem modifications are installed & programmed properly? Would appreciate some feed back!

It is not. The level of CanBus and programming that system is/has, we just are not able to reproduce it.

This model has a quick boot sleep timer. So it will instantly be on when you get in. It will require a full 15-20 second reboot every 15-25 key cycles to protect the processor

So there are a couple factory features we can not retain. 1. We can not retain the trailer back up assist. 2. We can not retain the tracking part inside the MyPass App 3. Factory USBs will not work for phones. 4. For Diesel trucks we do not have the rapid heat I believe the rest we do.

@@derekdenney1154 correct. Gen 5 T-Style is SiriusXM Ready and able to control SiriusXM’s V300 tuner. But the Gen 6 and XL are not. The process to have a system approved by SiriusXM takes anywhere from 12-36 months. With the new systems having new hardware means we have to start the process all over.

So if it’s a matter of charging. Get a Cigarette lighter adapter charger. Will charger better and faster then any CarPlay data USB. Then use the wireless for the link to do CarPlay.

@@RyanEllerbe there isn’t. Apple requires a lot of extra hardware to do a USB data transfer. Expensive parts. Part of why we went with wireless. Knowing it will be what is forced anyways. Save our customers some money by not using expensive parts that will be obsolete. We have USB outputs. But not the required stuff to do a CarPlay hand off.

No we do not retain Ford SYNC. Retaining something like Ford SYNC would limit the capabilities of the radio and create a strange switch between SYNC and our radio. It also would leave us vulnerable for a lot of issues that are out of our hands. Every time Ford updates their SYNC we would have to follow suite. Then depending which software version of either SYNC 2/3/4 you are running when installing our radio, would be a different firmware for us. So there would be a mess of getting a system to work once first installed. We started in this industry making camera and navigation interfaces that worked with the factory SYNC or GM MyLink systems. And we experienced this first hand. So when we started to develop our radios we were a hard pass on adding the issues that will bring. Our radios do just about everything SYNC does. A couple things like complete voice control and car service info we don’t.

No. This works for the 15-20 F-150. We do not make one for the 2010.

When I press the call button on my steering wheel google opens and I say "Call Angie " it replies ok and brings up Angie's info and attempts to call her. but the I get a message network failed! If I select call on my phone it works fine. What am I doing wrong. Also my FM radio work ok but the signal is weaker. I loose signal is a lot of places I did not loose it before.

I didn’t wanna finalize the installation until I found out what the RED light is flashing for so my question is again while the radio is not completely pushed in or fully installed I just see the red light from the back of the amp I just didn’t want to finalize the installation by pushing it all in and putting the screws on until I know if there was a problem that’s what I’m asking but from what you’re saying I guess it’s OK. I would think it would be a green light not a red light but if you say it’s fine, let me know again. Just to confirm all is good to finalize😊

What about XM radio with adapter? What speed is the LTE? 4G or 5G?

No XM adapter. The way XM works is you have to work with their engineer team on how you control their tuner. So every aftermarket company has to control the same tuner that SiriusXM provides. Every radio has to go through their development process. This process takes 12-48 months. We went through the process with our Generation 5 T-Style. Took 36 months. Because with the Generation 6 and the XL we are using all new Processors and Android version we have to start the process all over again. So we will again, but this means the first generation of the XL and the 6th Generation of the T-Style will not be XM ready. There is only 4G chips available on the market when it comes to 12 volt approved devices. (Phones and tablets have different regulations than something installed on a automobile). You can do SiriusXM via the app on the radio or your phone through CarPlay/Android Auto. Both would require a data connection.

@@jonbaker5423 no. The Gen 5 was built with the parts needed in it. Sirius will not allow an external adapter. All products have to have the parts in the initial build.

Hi. Last week I had the new T-Style XL 15.6" for my 2015 Ford F-150. I upgraded from your Linkswell Gen 4 for my F150. I really like the upgrades you did to the new tablet and enjoying it. The only negative feedback is that it doesn't have a native HDMI input in the back. I understand there is a adapter can get the job done. That is fine. EXCEPT... the adapter from your company is $129? After I spend $2K on your tablet? Can someone reach out to me to resolve this issue? The adaptor is again not the issue its the additional cost after spending so much money. Was a little surprised this wasn't part of the included hardware or at minimum available upon request to a purchaser of this tablet. Please advise. Thank you! - Jon Baker

So unfortunately we can’t change the way HDMi works. We lost the ability to do a native HDMI during COVid. The shut downs put The only company making chips we needed to keep it native out of business. So an external one is the only way we could bring it back. The extra cost of the XL is due to all the extras that come with the XL.

@@jonbaker5423 we haven’t been able to do HDMI in for a couple years. HDMI in isn’t listed as a feature. Sorry you weren’t aware of this but we haven’t marketed HDMI in for years. I have no control over giving any product away. But my guess is you will have to purchase it like the rest of our customers. You can try submitting a request through the website chat. All returns happen through your dealer if you want to return the XL.

Press the RST on the face of the radio near the knob. Then send a picture of the software version page to our chat on the website. I believe there is an update for the radio you just have to run that fixes a hang up on the fast boot

OK I just did a factory reset my linkswell, GEN 6 Tstyle as you told me to do and I put all my apps back in and I’m still having to put in my password. I have the password that’s not the problem I’m trying to remove it so I don’t have to keep putting it in every time I start my vehicle, that’s what I’m getting now. Everything is working fine it’s just that the password needs to be removed. Can you please help me with this this? This is all I have to do to finish this off. I don’t know who to turn to about this issue.

I also install FB messenger, nest thermostat app, Microsoft outlook, Speedtest so that can test my 4G connection, Waze, weather bug, 69 news which is our local news station app, KZread, KZread music and KZread TV. And that’s all the apps I’ve install. Which one do you think is causing the problem please let me know.

If you purchase the HDMI input adapter you can yes, by plugging into the HDMI input. But the theory is because the radio itself is tablets what ever streaming app you want to use you would just download to the radio itself. So no need for a phone.

So if you have followed our company you would know the long story behind SiriusXM..... We do have a radio that has been approved by SiriusXM. Our Gen 5 T-Style is XM Ready. The GEN 6 and XL both have a brand new processor, which means according to SiriusXM regulations, we have to start the whole process all over again with SiriusXM. A process that is set to last 12-36 months. So in later Generations, we hope to be able to add SiriusXM Ready to them. But this generation will not. App only on these.

I wasn’t aware of the long story. Thank you for a speedy reply. The xl seems like a great unit not to mention how great it looks. I’m willing to hold off from other units until this one has XM radio. Appreciate it. Hopefully, it’s soon

You use ONLY the plug that came from the screen. If you pulled the 54 from the module mounted in the dash behind the screen that is the wrong one.

Check out our regular T-Style Radios. Those are designed to sit inside the dash. And look factory. We went with a different look on the XL.

Maybe I’m just getting old but that thing looks just way too big. I’ve seen another one that was like 12 1/2 inches which just looked better the switches on top for off-road emergency signals and stuff like that were in the factory position which I like.

No. The Expedition has a rear climate system. So the radio requires a different climate control module that will retain the rear climate system. We make a Generations 5 T-Style for the Expedition currently. But due to low sale numbers we are not sure we will do the work to develop a T-Style XL for the Expedition.

@@flytragiccrab3210 bummer. We had our factory mock up a couple with the rear AC modules to see if we can make it work with little work to make the cost of development low enough to go for it. So looking for a local truck to use as the test truck.

My screen sometimes doesn’t turn on. I have to reset it to make it light up.

Why is it running such an old version of Android?

I explain this a lot. 1. We will never develop on a platform that is actively being updated. That leaves us way vulnerable to issues caused by Android updates that we have no control over. So we will always be at least one or two behind the current one. 2. It takes roughly 12-24 months of development and testing before we can release a radio. This means over the 24 months of us developing and testing 2 more versions have released. So that when we finish testing we could be 4-5 version behind the latest depending on time we start and time of release of new versions. So we will always be behind but that is done to be sure we provide the most stable and long lasting radio we can.

Please please please back date this radio for Ford Expeditions Years 18🙏🙏

We make a Gen 5 for the Expedition but it isn’t a big seller so I do not know that we will invest in doing the XL for it right now. Although we have had a few people ask since posting. So maybe we will.
