Installing A Horn Bypass Button In My 1996 Chevy Tahoe

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

The horn on my 1996 Chevrolet Tahoe stopped working a few days ago. I believe the problem is with the #Airbag #Clock #Spring. I really don’t want to replace it, so in this video, we will be installing a horn bypass button and relay.
You can buy the kit you need at AutoZone. Here is a link to their website.
Note of Caution = You will need to supply your own relay

Strange thing. My 03 Silverado was doing the exact same thing. I installed the same button and after using it for a month or so, my horn switch on the steering wheel started working again. It is still working. Now my 04 Z71 is doing the same thing. I'm going to finish the button install on it tomorrow and see if it fixes the steering wheel horn on it also. Thanks for the video.

maybe i missed something but why couldnt u use the original relay that was used to power the horn before and is already in the car...i understand u couldnt use the same switch (the one in the steering wheel cause its broken)...but the old relay is still there...is it to difficult to access the various ports/terminals on the old relay?...also for me anyway..a simple handrawn schematic of the entire circuit with battery, fuse , relay , switch and load /horn would have been simpler to follow

You can’t seriously run wires close to hinges and through the door opening over the rubber strip. Why not simply connect the new contact to the horn wire on the steering column. That way you use the factory wiring harness (which one must assume functions just fine if only the old horn push was bad)

Your dad is a bad a*s. I have to do this to my mothers Dodge Journey. The ribbon is shorting out & the horn honks randomly. My question is, can I use a relay with originally horn wiring? That way I don’t have to run a wire throughout the engine bay?
