    That was not the proper way of putting on this attachment. It will work, but I’ve always used this attachment from my Ryobi to my 4cc Echo. It literally takes less then 5 mins to put on

    This device is really nice and works very well for a while. The only problem I'm having is the plastic blades are constantly breaking loose where they are attached to the unit. It would be good if they reinforced the middle of the ring with metal. It breaks off every time.

    The issue you're experiencing is likely due to excessive friction in the drive shaft causing heat to be transfered down to the the bolt on which you mount the head assembly. Check the manual to determine the correct lubricant for the drive shaft/gear lube and grease that sucker up. When greasing gear case near the head be mindful of how much grease you apply. You don't want it packed full as too much grease will cause the gears to have to work hard to push the excess material out of the way which leads to friction and rising temperatures. Once you cook the grease it will separate leaving you with a crusty hot mess in your gear housing. All you're looking for is enough grease to keep a thin film on the surface of all the moving parts. Best of luck!

    I have the Pivotrim that uses the same yellow blades. IMO they work pretty good against brush and twigs. You can't abuse it. You obviously were using it against cinder block or chain link. I installed the metal blades you mentioned. They're great, but you still can't expect them to be indestructible. BTW I see you must have read the instructions. I thought that yellow cone thing was another adapter, not to hold the damn nut that _is_ hard to thread. Thanks for that info.

    are you trying to remove the head or the blades? the blades are easy, press the red buttons and push the blade in towards the head, if you're trying to remove the head, hold the neck of the trimmer where the head is bolted on and unscrew or screw the head off. Read your trimmer manual or look on youtube.

    You sure can’t but a trimmer now that will last 10 years! My Troybilt didn’t last even a few times with that stupid bump head....so, put one of the Ugly Heads on it and got one good season out of it before the whole trimmer is crap! The Ugly Head has those yellow blades, but it also has the option to use string too. I like it a lot.

  • @da1cru1

    @da1cru1

    6 жыл бұрын

    Mark; I hope you found the answer by now, if not this should help. Pull the bumper that holds the string out of the bump head assb'y. Look to see if there is any kind of bolt in the center that holds it on, yours shouldn't. (Note; If you have a straight shaft, your not taking the bolted on part off the shaft, just the bump head.) Just above the bump head should look like a bolt on the shaft, it may just have 2 flat sides, hold that with a wrench to keep it from spinning. Then grab the bump head and unscrew the whole assb'y from the shaft. I find it's easier to hold the head and apply torque to the wrench to crack it loose, then hold the wrench and spin off the whole head. On yours the whole head should come off. Just have to figure out which way to unscrew it. I have 2 whips, both spin CW but one is straight shaft, the other curved. The straight one unscrews CCW, but my curved shaft unscrews CW, the same direction it spins. Not sure why they different other than the curved shaft is made in China, and my other is an older made in the US craftsman straight shaft. If it's too tight to unscrew using your hand, try using a strap wrench or something similar, just use a little torque. If it doesn't break loose fairly easy then try the other way, once it breaks loose the whole head just spins right off. Usually they not on that tight and come off by hand. Hope this helps if you not found your answer yet..
