That's the best way to crossthread the lug nuts ,Start them by hand first. Love the wheels too I have some on my 74 monte carlo

I understand my experience might be a different experience but I run bolt on wheel spacer on the track car. 100s of thousands of miles on adapters and never had a scare on a proper torqued wheel with quality components.
