This was my first job when I entered my High School Work Study Program in 1980. I was a Mason tender for the Forman on the job-sites. We installed California Style Precast bullnose coping(3ft long pieces with diamond imprints in the center)

Doing a mortar float on the shotcrete with the a slope going outwards the pool will help save time when it comes to laying down coping that way you just apply a long even layer of thinset and it should pretty much have the same slope when your done laying them down.

Sounds like a good idea I might be doing another pool soon I will keep that in mind.

yes--what mortar is appropriate/required..Mine were put down by the contractor with regular brick mortar. We had to pull some up for repairs and the back of the coping was clean..they pretty much popped off.

What is the width and depth of the concrete collar you are putting the bullnose down on and what type of adhesive (thinset are you using), and what type of mortar for the joints?

Ok having this done this week still do not fathom or understand once installed....if and when I need new track or liner how the he'll do they gain access to that without cemented brick bullnose in the way?

Somebody just mentioned keeping the string on the front of the bull nose pavers. He said that I could not get a good finish edge by having the string on the backside. He is wrong and the Uniloc pavers are made exactly the same size and it doesn’t matter if you have the string in the front or the back of the paver while you’re installing it. Nice comment anyway Swifty.

I hope that's not hardiebacker board you're putting that down on. It sure looks like it. That will not hold over time. Pool builder cut corners on my pool six years ago and now I'm spending $$$$ to fix it right.
