***INSTALL & TEST*** New RUT MFG. 36" Disc Mulcher on Takeuchi TB260

Ойын-сауық

Install and test of new 36" RUT MFG. disc mulcher on a Takeuchi TB260.
Install was simple. Need to re-route the hydraulic lines out of the way of the thumb operation but works well and is fast!!!
Had some loose hydraulic fittings that needed to be tightened.

    thats the same problem I had with my Rutt, plus they left out the big O ring where the motor attaches. Rutt was good about it they sent a truck picked it up brought it back and replaced the motor, no additional expense to me so I highly recommend them.

    Yeah, kinda frustrating but glad it was an easy fix. Bummer about the O ring. What happened without the O ring? Did oil gush out or something?

    I'm very pleased with mine, on a lighter machine. The blade carrier is great at dense sapling growth that the disc would just lay down. Or rough mowing over slopes/banks. If you clean much fenceline with it, go a head and order a seal kit. Stray barbed wire is the enemy. My pin was super tight too...quick reamer and good to go. Thanks for the vid.

    Great video, thanks for posting. I am looking at a 36" mulched too and have the same model EX you have, so this was great to see it working with the Rut. I am in an area which has a lot of already downed trees and brush piles as well. Do you have any experience mulching piles of evergreen and downed trees? Thanks for the info!

    Thank you! Tak + Mulcher = getting stuff done! Great combo! Yes, mostly pine trees and pine tree tops. I can say that the weight of the material you're mulching plays a huge part in how it reacts to the disc. The disc at operating speed will throw lighter weight material everywhere and yes, back at the cab, regardless of angle of disc. Conversely, heavier material will stay in place until it becomes lighter and then will be flung. This mulcher prefers mulching a standing tree or brush. Haven't really had an opportunity to mulch material into soft ground since I have only worked with this combo in granite. Hope this helps.

    @@user-rv1dz4fb1d I did a lot of research like I'm sure you are doing right now and even talked with industry professionals. I found that disc mulchers are more efficient at chewing through material compared to drum mulchers. Price wise, Rut Mfg aside, there is generally a reduced price for a disc mulcher, but not much. Would not recommend a disc mulcher for working close to windows or similar.

    For the money, this Mulcher seems to do a great job, and I think it is probably the best deal in the mulching line up for excavators. Thank you for the videos@@NuDig55

    I would like to try one of these some day, I run a mulching head on a drum and a bush hog type but much heavier duty. I've seen this style used where they clip the tree off at the base then feed the but end of the tree into the disk at ground level and it just shreds it, Have you tried this method yet? as opposed to the top down method?

  • @NuDig55

    @NuDig55

    Жыл бұрын

    Hi Timberdoodles! I wondered about that method as well. I have tried mulching a tree that was cut down and resting on a pile of other trees/brush and did fine. The area I work in is littered with granite boulders and keeps me from mulching directly on ground. I will say that the mass of the tree impacts the mulching performance. This spring I will do some testing and post a video. Great question!

    Is that a 12000 lb matching. Wondering how the 36” would work on on my cat 305

  • @NuDig55

    @NuDig55

    Жыл бұрын

    About that...around 12300 without the mulcher head. A couple things to consider, the mulcher has some weight to it...suspect around 800-1000 lbs. Take a look at the Cat 305 charts to see if it's rated for that kinda weight over the front and side. I know that with my TB260, which is more of a conventional tail swing, reaching out as far as it will reach to the side, I can mulch but I shouldn't make a sudden movements cause the back of machine will pick up enough to cause the head to lower...just something to consider. Another thing is the flow rate. Not certain what the Cat 305 is rated for but the TB260 high flow setting of 27gpm works well with this mulcher for any pine 6"-. Anything larger than that and I have to lift off of the cut and let the head spool up for another hit or I have to slowly lower the disc onto the tree. I know that RutMfg will size the hydraulic motor to your unit which should ensure it will work as efficiently as possible. I have more videos coming of this combo in action, stay tuned! Hope this helps!
