Pretty ordinary that the 2015/16 Genesis with the highest trim level is the one that you can't get the Carplay update for :( It makes me nervous about what ongoing support will be from Hyundai if I splurge on the more expensive models

It has to sit. I have a 2016 Azera with the negotiation. And it'll tell you to leave the car in park

Jennifer Wilson u can call mapnsoft that is the company Hyundai/Kia gets there map navigation from it also has a sd card that also has apple CarPlay and android with this as well it cost $175... none of the dealerships knew what I was talking about I purchased one for my 2015 Hyundai in the US. The customer service at mapnsoft asked if I was from Canada so I assume you will be able to get this as well ...your vehicle needs to already have the factory navigation for this to work.. good luck

@@warrioromarzthefirst5949 it may be included just download the latest map update which also includes software updates using the Hyundai Navigation Updater app. Your car has to have gps navigation though

Same problem. My 2015 G80 5.0 Genesis w/ 9.2 Navigation calls for a 32gig . The factory SD card that came from car is a 16gig. I tried using 64gig and it would not let me proceed??? What did you end up doing???

Any updates on that? I been told the same thing recently too. However, when I go to the website to get newest version ($145) it says that with this update carplay feature was added. I just think that those guys working in the dealership are not competent enough because they don't deal with it that much.

I doubt you haven't found the answer to this in 3 years, but in case you haven't, it's most likely due to you having a nav display greater than 8".

I also just bought a 2015 Genesis and it has Navigation, but it’s the smaller screen. ( btw, what are the added options for the top trim on Genesis? It seems like mine is loaded). I am doing the update now, however my SD card is the exact one that he holds up in the video. So, it’s a 16 GB card. You have to have a 32 GB card ( not 64 ) and it has to be in FAT32 format ( whatever that means). But he says that you can do it on that SD card. Maybe that was back then, but now it’s 2022? Or he’s not really knowledgeable about what he’s talking about.

Think it depends on what version of update your downloading. I tried a 64gig card and would not let me proceed my version calls for a 32gig even though factory card was only 16gig

You might try using the Elantra selection. Apparently they are the same vehicle. They might have different equipment depending on the region though.

It can be another SD card, whenever you get to the navigator downloader install it tells you what you need :-)

You can easily do it yourself. I’m not tech savvy, and I am doing it now. But if your SD card is a 16 gb card you can’t use it. You HAVE to get a 32gb card( not more) and formatted in FAT32) whatever that means).

in that case you'd use a USB flash drive to copy maps and software updates and then plug it in to your car's USB port. The Hyundai Navigation Updater app provides all the instructions

This will only work on the 2016 Veloster. Very misleading.

This is stupid. I`ve got a 2014 Elantra GT but you cant install any of those systems to that car. There is no SD card reader on the Hyundai factory multimedia system. And you cant do it with USB port either

The 14,15, and 1st Gen 2016 Velo’s have the head units that run Windows CE. Not only is it impossible to update it (to Android, which the newer ones run on iirc), the head units lack the proper hardware to run CarPlay. You’d have to switch out the head unit for a Gen 2 2016-2017 model. Which I will end up doing and might post a KZread video on how to do

Marty Taylor I was forced to pay at least $100 (I think $140) for the “maps/navigation” update for my 2015 genesis. It’s a pretty big scam imo bc it was once free to download on Hyundai’s website, but a customer support representative for the navigation software company told me that there were legal issues that forced Hyundai to make the CarPlay/android auto software update for the radio available for download if you paid to get the navigation upgrade.
