Inspiring Young People In Scotland: Gaby Williamson

Inspiring Young People In Scotland: Gaby Williamson
Gaby Williamson is the perfect person to kick off this self-growth series on YouRevolution.
In this episode, titled ‘Inspiring Young People in Scotland’, the 20-year-old student tells her story of setting up a support network for younger people experiencing bereavement.
In May last year, Gaby lost her dad to cancer, and took the courageous step of speaking out publicly about the grief journey - and created a movement called ‘Let’s Blether’ for young people who have lost a loved one.
It has since become an invaluable support network for young people all over the UK experiencing bereavement and needing a friend or two to chat to.
Gaby organises fortnightly online chats with her Let’s Blether group…and she’s since been asked to be an ambassador for Ayrshire Cancer Support Charity….and has also been invited to work alongside a cancer organisation based in Edinburgh.
We’re sure there are plenty more inspiring young people in Scotland, but we at YouRevolution are delighted to share Gaby’s story and spread the word about the amazing movement she created.

Really impressed with the courageous and honest way Gaby spoke about her experiences with grief. What a shining light to others. I lost my father to pancreatic cancer in May 2019 and relate to many of the things she spoke about. Especially when she talked about the circus moving on and other people getting on with their lives as yours is shattered. A touching and inspiring episode.

Awe guys and Gabby I just got round to watching this. Absolutely wonderful and heart-aching in equal measures. What a fantastic woman Gabby is. To take her grief and help others. So much hit home with me. When my mum died I had to head to the funeral directors and had to take a bus and sat there looking at everyone just going about their business and my mum had died days before. So important we have the grief conversation with our loved ones. Thanks as ever for another great episode. Gabby if you read this I know WWCR in Edinburgh well! You'll be a fantastic addition to a wonderful team x x x
