Insiders Guide to Dry Tortugas National Park
This is a guide for anyone seeking information on visiting Dry Tortugas National Park. Whether you plan to arrive on the Yankee Freedom Ferry, Key West Seaplane, or on a private boat, there is information in here for you. This park is located about 70 miles west of Key West Florida and 90 miles north of Cuba. It is home to Fort Jefferson, where Dr. Samuel Mudd was kept after allegedly helping John Wilkes Booth escape capture following the assassination of President Abraham Lincoln. Today, the Fort is visited by thousands of curious travelers. If you are interested in more than American History, the park encompasses 100 square miles of warm tropical waters and is home to a wide array of marine life and sea birds.

Just two questions - if you camp is there a night ranger on call? If you camp do they lock up the fort at night? Noisy or unruky fellow campers? Just looking for peace and nature! Thank you!

Very cool video, thank you! I hope they let employees have free transportation on their off time as the yankee freedom is expensive for tourists! Can't imagine what the sea plane or a private charter might cost!

You're welcome! Yes, the park covers the cost of transportation to and from Key West for the staff. The employees would be broke otherwise or no one would be able to afford to work out there. Also, the travel time does count as work hours so it doesn't cut into their off time. Thanks for watching!

working on them as we speak, a six week project to fix the moat wall and damage from 2 hurricanes. Sad for campers, I just missed the cancellations by 2 weeks @@thedelusionaldreamer
