The GMAT exam format has recently changed and now you can take the GMAT Focus Edition. The key change is more focus on Data Insights. As with most exams get hold of the official guide to start your preparation.

It would be difficult. US schools like to see decent GPAs. It's not very tough to get say a 3.7 GPA (only 80% in CBSE Boards). If you are from a state board where marking is difficult you will need to check your exact GPA based on your board. WES is a paid service that converts Indian marks to US GPA system. You can check with them. Realistically though, SAT score alone will not compensate for a very bad GPA. You will need to consider colleges outside the US.
