Jettison rows and go with a continuous mat where every corn plant is twelve inches from the next one in every direction. Then reverse to the smallest row spacing that simulates that: Perhaps 15inch rows with 12 inches within a row, offset from the next row to maximize sun space.
I’m curious how narrow rows would do in droughtier conditions. I’ve got some shale soil farms I’m tempted to try it on but obviously getting a corn head is a big commitment.
Should be doing your study with 15in corn
{s there any real advantage for the 20" rows for strictly making sileage? I would think there would more tons to the acre, but I'm not sure. You have any ideas?
