In his biography, Cruyff said "The problem I had in football, is that I met people with ego, and their ego made them believe that they could know more about football than me. I'm the best at football. If people were smart, not égocentrique, they'll just listen to me." And the only problem is... He's right. Absolutely.

As much as I idolize Johann, he wasn't always right. We, Barcelona fans in the early 90s, know his mistakes... but he was so smart that made everybody believe that he was always right, and when we realize he'd made a mistake it was too late

@@arturovelasquez2767 Here in the Netherlands you could call him revered. Of course everyone loves him for his beautiful playing style, but it's the amount of things he has done off the pitch that make him great. The video showcases his impact on education for young players, but he has also had a big hand in making football more accessible to underpriviliged youths and making professionalism in sports more common. Maybe his coaching was mostly an interpretation of what Michels did before him, but I don't think it's really possible to call him overrated based on everything else he contributed...

In the Netherlands his legacy is far greater than just football. When he spoke everybody listened. He's had so many great quotes that are still being used in every day life today. Some football quotes: "If we have the ball, they can't score" "Football is simple, but playing simple football is the hardest thing there is" And imo his masterpieces, that are so applicable to life in general "You have to shoot, otherwise you can't score" (if you don't try, it will not happen) "Every disadvantage has an advantage" (try to look for opportunities i.s.o. losses)

In football slow players, short players, physically weaker players can still compete against fast, tall and strong players. So it's very different from athletics.

This last part of the video hit hard, because alot of football fans today don't understand why Cruyff is the greatest manager and football figure to ever exist because as compared to other managers even in that period, he has lesser achievements and trophies but that is because pep said it: it is the hardest thing in the world to start something from scratch rather than upgrade or build on it. He built the cathedral, That is the legacy of Johan Cruyff. And no matter whether people say this style of playing is done or over, Cruyff is so great that his embodiments will be passed on and on and his influences on La Masia will keep on producing the best talents football has ever seen, even if the time doesn't fit anymore. This is where football reaches its peak, with cruyff's philosophy. Even one of the greatest managers in the world, Mourinho has made a name for himself from trying to even beat this type of system back in the last decade. Barcelona is truly the luckiest football club in the world of having this man's mind and full contributions at his last years as a manager.

Johan cruyff thought about the beautiful game on a whole different level than anyone has ever done. He captivated a whole country by just playing and sharing his insight. To throw a quote that he maybe could've said himself: "messi is the best player ever, but cruyff is the best footballer"

One man most people forget about is Ernst Happel. He was the first coach in the Netherlands who implemented the 4-3-3 at feyenoord with short passes and fluid football, Rinus Michels and Ajax basically copied that system. In the Netherlands Happel has a high reputation but in other countries barely noone talks about him and his accievements.Nevertheless, Cruyff was, of course, a genius.

Meh, Naruto couldn't even collect the tailed beasts, got killed and saved zillions time. Hashirama established the village system and let them have some beasts. Had they done their wars during his life, we wouldn't have naruto cuz Konoha would've been the only village lol

But the player who made the biggest impact in popularizing football/soccer in North America will always be Pelé. New York Cosmos became a pop phenomenon in the mid 70s and when Pelé retired, that was the beginning of the end of the NASL despite talented players like Cruyff, Beckenbauer, Chinaglia, Neeskens, Gerd Muller, Trevor Francis or George Best.

I have always argued that he was not the most important person in football, but the most important person in modern team sports. Every major team league has been influenced by him. From giving players the basic human right of choice of where play (he refused a transfer to Madrid) to politics to technical training to the type of staff (physios etc) to education, he led the way. Plus, Ronaldinho was probably the only player who as fun to watch.

I don't know what Barca is doing right now. So much money spent on new signings, Lewandowski ao. Money that Barca does not have. It looks to me like the board of Barca are in panic mode. And all the dutch players are almost gone as well as Koeman the former coach. Maybe Xavi and the president of the club don't want to be confronted with the critical and openianated Dutch players, but they want obediënt and disciplained players,
