Inside the ICU: An exclusive look inside Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center's intensive care

You have heard about it. But, do you believe it?
You have heard about the severity of COVID-19 and the Delta variant. You have heard about the crisis in our local hospitals; the nursing shortages and the lack of supplies.
Maybe you do not believe it because you have not seen it.
4 News Now’s Robyn Nance and photojournalist Brian Belanger were granted exclusive and unprecedented access into Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center’s intensive care unit.
Here is what they saw on Tuesday, September 7, 2021.

Agreed! All these anti vaxxer/republican/conservative morons out here asking for evidence. Show them this and keep showing them more. Show them what actually happens and how bad it really gets just like those smoking commercials. If you get COVID because of pure ignorance or stubbornness and not being vaxxed then IMO get fucked. Don’t take up hospital resources and keep practicing your belief of not trusting science and medicine.

@@ProXcaliber as optimistic as that sounds, unfortunately a video like this won't convince the anti vaxxers or non believers. It barely shows much because they picture a hospital in chaos like they do in a TV show. They think people can freely walk around in a contagious building and record without consent. These anti vaxxers and non believers are just so narrow minded there's no convincing them. Even if you hope for them to get hit with covid to start believing, some will still not believe it until their very death - or worse, go out and spread it because they think it isn't covid.

ugh this was hard to watch because it just reminds me of my mother who passed away 6 years ago. she was intubated at the end and soon passed away. just reminds me of all the nurses that did their best for her but it wasn't meant to be. i'm eternally grateful for all the nurses going to work everyday and putting up with this crap. i nearly had a breakdown going through all that with my mom for a month and i can't imagine putting up with these kinda sights every day with no end in sight. i'm vaccinated because i don't really want to be responsible for somebody else getting sick. don't want people to go through what i did 6 years ago. sad that so many people are going through that every day.

Once to get to late stage 2 and still havent recover then the chances of fully recover after stage 3 is non-existence. At that point, the amount a waste buildup in your blood and lungs pretty much guaranteed you will have ever lasting complications for the rest of your life. Y'all interviewed everyone but the respiratory therapist, eh? C'mon, throw us a bone! But, thank you. This reflects my experience as an RT at a community hospital in Kentucky. I have had nights with just one ventilator left, no ICU beds, no nurse available to receive the patient who I know needs to be sent to the ER hold (our makeshift second ICU), only two RTs to manage 16 vents and the rest of the hospital to boot. I've helped deliver the news to one of my patients that his father is dying downstairs, then returned to work the next night to find that my patient went on the vent just as his father died, then 5 days later heard his code called too. I've cared for an entire family at once and later seen one of them die, yet the family still doesn't believe it was COVID. I've celebrated with a wife over an improved blood gas result, thinking that I found the magical CPAP setting that just might keep her husband off the vent, then returned to work the next night to see his name on the vent board. I work overtime every week, then come home and see people on social media denying that I just saw and did what I saw and did.

It is monetized but they need to get paid to do this work so it's not an issue.

If you use KZread KZread puts ads on everything. I didn't get any ads when watching this, personally, but I wouldn't be surprised because that's the exception--not the norm.

All news stations should be showing this kind of heartbreak, sadness, and exhaustion these medical people go through daily, but the news should also let us know which hospitals/staff/nurses/doctors are not vaccinated. I understand it's our bodies our choice, but it's also our choice who cares for us when & if we get sick
