Besides having historical connection between Syria and India, in the recent past India and Syria were both members on the Non Aligned Movement which started in Nehru’s time, 1961. Present President Assad’s father and Pt Nehru were close friends. The current friendliness of Syrian people towards Indians is due to that legacy. 🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳

Just to correct you doc, ISIS was occupying all the major cities in Syria once, Aleppo, Raqqa, Homs, and others(check in wikipedia). Yeah, it was unsuccessful to penetrate Damascus and some western Syrian cities. The reason why they destroyed Palmyra is because they believe that whatever monument is pre islamic is haram, so that thing should not exist. But thank you Navankur for showing us Syria, its amazing people.

I have lived 2 years in Syria. 2006 to 2008. It was very peaceful and beautiful country. Homs Aleppo was very modern cities at that time. Homs is Bashar al asad(prime minister)' wife's city.

Iran, Russia, and Hezbollah support the Syrian Arab Republic and the Syrian Armed Forces militarily, with Russia conducting airstrikes and ground operations since September 2015. The U.S.-led international coalition, established in 2014 with the declared purpose of countering the IS organization, has been conducting airstrikes primarily against IS and sometimes against government and pro-Assad forces. Since 2015, coalition has deployed special forces and artillery units for their campaign, in the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria and Al-Tanf deconfliction zone; and has been materially and logistically supporting their armed wings, the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and Army of Free Syria respectively. Turkish forces have fought the SDF, ISIL, and the Assad government since 2016, but have also actively supported the Syrian opposition and currently occupy large swaths of northwestern Syria while engaging in significant ground combat.
