people like this are so inspiring, this is why I love electronic music. We are at the frontline of sound, but guys like this run forward to see how much further we can go.
Filterbank was always in my mind from when I just started with music production. Finally have that masterpiece in my rig
Touched by this very genuine character
Herman is the real deal. A real artist and a pleasure to be around. Thank you for bringing Sherman into the realm of sound.
A little piece of modern music history, this interview.
Sherman is wild and beautiful.
A true pioneer and prolific music god.
This is the coolest thing I've seen since I Dream of Wires. Buying one, stat. Sherman is a f*kng genius.
You can put the shittiest digital sounds into the FB and they come out the other end baptized in analog glory. I've had my FB2 since 2003 and it's as good now as it was out of the box. So much of the sounds I've recorded that people ask "what the hell are you using to get that" is thanks to the FB2. With it's vast sensitivity and perimeters, it truly is an instrument onto itself. I love that the guy who builds the things is still boxing them up, that's so badass, who does that?
This Sherman is the daddy. Ima buy one and make the sickest Chickenstep.
I'm picking up a SFB2 this week. I hadn't really heard any demos on KZread that were really making me want this - and then I watched this whole video and found it fascinating on multiple levels. Can't wait to try this out.

Please use it with your vox. His song titled "I've had enough" under Boris mikulic (you can find here on KZread) sounds amazing.

I love you mr. Sherman.
Fascinating! Means even more that I just ordered the full size dual filterbank 2. Very happy!
5:30 ----v In analog: “The ear is very sensitive to everything that is randomly evolving in sound. All these things together going on in the analog domain. You hear it. Digital is always having limits. The numbers have not enough information to describe all the convolutions going on.” 9:20----v "There's infinite resolution in analog. In digital you have steps, numbers. Ones and zeros. There is nothing in between one and zero in digital." THIS, MAN, GETS IT! Humans are analog. Computers will never have infinite resolution, like the analog world does. Things are always changing in the analog domain. The musical mind will always be outside the digital world. There's a reason these boxes go for a lot, even secondary market.
Cool, one men factory: developing, producing, packaging and sent to the customer by Mr. Sherman himself!
Great guy - a little like a mad genius.
Great interview, makes me want FB more and more!
grateful for this video, what a special guy and a special instrument, thank you
I will never be without my Sherman filter:)
He i s a brilliant man.
the last statement,inspiring...
The rooster fucking rocks, and he knows his analog filters.
this guy is a genius
It is so important to know why there is the need to know the rules. It is so necessary to understand why the rules need to be broken.

Genius
Hands up to him!
Very happy with my filterbank!
He is nuts and we love it
what a dude. bit like the lebowski of analoge filter manufacturers ... i´m not sure this would make a lot of sense for the music i´m doing but i love it and its awesome to watch. yes and of course the rooster
Literally just ordered one.
With roosters in the background is the best 12:19. Still great video!

very nice belgium product !
That rooster though
Been wanting one simce the early 1990s. Love that 12bit Rooster 🐓 🐓 🐔 Does it have MIDI ie to clock LFO?😊
Muy interesante. Genio!! 💭🎛️

Rooster: "Yeah, start there... definitely start there"
Every techno producer must have one of those!!! Just check 8:36!!!!!!
Hmm misschien moet ik toch nog die laatste versie erbij hebben 😂
Would be cool to do a tube version.
@MusicGearNuts
Жыл бұрын
that would be kind of redundant. You can already put a tube amp before the input or after the output for even harmonics.
💙
i have one
Comestibles the kikeriki also from the filterbank?
And it's amazing how many people never actually use the inputs around the back Vibe on people !! Wake it up
Pull back camera 2, and you see he's talking to a freekin' tennis ball on a stick.
at 5:45 he is fing brilliant and quite right that the engineers are in fact wrong. Bloody right.
Wow, theres a guy who understand concept of analog / digital domain.
Almost sounds like a chicken at some points , that’s amazing
is that an actual rooster I hear
Anyone with some experience and this filterbank? Looking for a cheap limiter & high pass filter as I read it could destroy my setup. Thanks for your help!

@@ervinreszler7807 Hey man, I bought one only two months ago... I think if you're looking for something to make precise surgical cuts or operations in general for like mastering or so you need something else but for being creative with the Sherman filterbank is best. It can destroy your speaker because the Hertz of its LFO can go below what your speaker is able to reproduce, so the membrane will swing too slow and therefore lose air and will burn... if I understood that correctly!?. Anyway great sound and distortion, I really enjoy working with it
Read The Macking Fanual
are we hearing the filterbank only or is there stuff running through and out like a synth r so?

I dont agree with him, what he says about digital "steps" - there are none...That said: I have mine since 2004 and I still love her for her raw quirkiness!

7:35 :) mad man
actually he said "RTMF-people" which means: READ THE MUCKING FANUAL!!! and THAT'S the only way u can get to understanding the sherman :D
Sorry I sold mine 8 years ago Maybe one day I'll get another
