I can't get over how calm and collected Ryder is as a person, very contagious.
"mindfulness practice disguised as a productivity system" - love that!
"You cant trust yourself until you've earned that trust from yourself, and you can't earn that trust without action". Well said. Love the content man! Keep it coming.
Grea video. This really helped me. There have been a lot of years of YT and social media coopting the brilliant bujo system, creating lots of elaborate “spreads” and artistic “layouts” the art community came up with. That’s great - no shade to artists, but I definitely lost sight that the whole point of the system is to provide a mechanism capture without needing to immediately categorize. And there is certainly no additional utility in capturing in some artfully designed work of art with 18 different kinds of media. I’m taking my bujo back. My brain likes it. My heart just felt like my notebook was substandard because all the “bujos” I saw for a long time were really art journals.
Loved this video, because I also have a hybrid analogue (bullet journal) and digital (google calendar, Craft Docs) productivity system - and I still learnt from this. Some new apps to look at and play with is always welcome.
Ryder is my favourite human thank you for this 💜
I love that these videos showcase variety and flexibility with different systems that work for different people. Some productivity folks rigidly promote one tool or methodology and ignore any other possibilities.
Love this video. I can’t wait to watch the one Ryder put on his channel. This makes the most sense to me because of the way I like yo process. And I like the practical example of how to do it in real life. Bravo 👏
my most awaited video
Thoroughly enjoyed both this video and the one on Bullet Journal channel!
The video's were I was waiting for. Nice collaboration guys!
Estos dos monstruos juntos! No tienen idea la influencia que tienen en mi vida cotidiana. Excelente video.
Love Bullet Journaling! Setting up 2023 🎉 Thanks for sharing your amazing strategy on note taking. I need to buy both books now.
This videos are such high quality. Love it
Thank you both, for doing what you love. 🙏⚡☀️
I was thinking for so long if you will ever talk to Ryder:))) I had been using Bujo for years and now that I’m in the BASB course I was thinking if those could work together.:)

@@catherineluedecker440 And I don't want to give up on hand written notebooks. It feels comfortable, easy to use, always with me, it's a physical object that I can use many of my senses on, especially touch as I am a huge fan of fountain pens and great quality writing tools (check out Visconti Ballpoint pens! Fenomenal!).
I, too, feel like Ryder about physical books and have said I love the smell, texture etc and gotten the your weird look, lol!
Outstanding 😮
At 10:45 Thiago answers the question he asked Ryder about Readwise: Progressive Summarization is exactly what Readwise is! 👍👍
How were you getting your Kindle Highlights to the Ipad? (4:00 Mark)
My heroes
Answer In Progress' pocket notebook modded with 2 pieces of paper (32 pages of fun!) has now become my official thought consolidation tool and replaced my smartphone! Those pocket notebooks in a zettelkasten system = pretty epic gamechanger ;)
I totally think in folder structure…
Great video! But I don’t really get why using readwise instead of directly sync with roam

i wish we could see productivity systems that has more analog techniques - not everyone can afford apps nor constant access to wifi. it feels like i lose half of my brain whenever i go offline.
Wow, under our own eyes, the discovery of 'pen and paper'. I didn't realise we had lost it.
You mention an app - Clarity, do you have a link to that? 🙏🏻

Tiago - I have a challenge for you! How would you build a local/offline Second Brain? For example: 🖥Use 'My Documents' and/or 'My Downloads' instead of Evernote for Archiving? I like your system, but I think everyone here has sensitive notes they don't trust in 'the cloud' regardless of how ethical or stable a tech company is. I was annoyed when Evernote killed off the ability to have local notes (notes that only exist in your computer) during the pandemic with version 10 update. So I want to have an archive system of notes for personal/sensitive things in my computer folders (probably written with MS Office files) while I only use Evernote for business purposes. How would you structure your PC folders and what would be your offline workflow? Imagine that the only online capabilities you have are (1) email and (2) online task manager. But storage needs to be computer only.

Notesnook is very good regarding privacy. And you can trust open source software because you can check it by yourself (if you're computer wise).
What font is Ryders roam set to?

Whats hard is having a line between work and personal, creates so much additional work....I work for an employer with supplied laptop ipad etc, and definitely not going to bring my personal life onto it

I love how every expert interviewed loves doing "progressive summarization" but don't remember what it's called. 😅
What happens when you don’t have your book with you?
The thing I hate about his system is the sheer number of apps. I have; Kindle, Obsidian, and a physical notebook. That's it.
I want MKBHD's second brain :)
I don't know which is more shocking: that the creator of the bullet journal also uses a digital tool or the man-bun.

So…. He has this elaborate system but what has he done of use with it besides “inventing” bullet journaling?
I wish you didn't move so fast through the Roam setup, this was the most valuable portion of this interview and watching a cursor dart around the screen at lightning speed doesn't teach us how to master this technique.

This looks like a massive time waste to me. SO MANY APPS. Imagine the time spent trying to figure out which app you left that bit of info in. Imagine just the accumulative time spent switching apps during a normal week. Imagine if just ONE of those apps fails; an update glitches, the host server goes down, your info database gets corrupted... Honestly, this looks less like a productivity system and more like a procrastination system.
wow, that's a little complicated!

I think it just depends on how you’re mind works. If you’re a microorganizer, a more of an assembly line process works better. If you’re macroorganizer, simple systems that you dump stuff in works for you. Neither system seems rational to the other type of thinker.

Utterly complicated
A mindfulness practice disguised as a productivity system...that's disappointing in a way because at work I just want to skip the mindfulness and just be productive without being slowed down. I have tried bullet journaling on and off for ages but maybe this is why obsidian works better for me.
I don’t really think this guy created the bullet journal as bullet journaling has been around for centuries…..what this guy did was copyright the word bullet with an ancient writing technique called journaling .kudos to him for thinking he actually created this ancient technique….even more kudos for seizing an opportunity to acquiring the words so nobody else can call their ancient bullet journals, bullet journals because he can sue….lol….bullet journal dot grid journal wtf let’s all copyright the English language……
