Did you know that there were originally supposed to be two additional emotions in Inside Out 2, but they ended up being cut because they nearly ruined the movie? You might already know that Anxiety, Envy, Embarrassment, Ennui, and Nostalgia are the new characters joining the sequel, bringing the total number of emotions inside Riley to ten, now that she's a teenager. But which emotions were supposed to be included?
It turns out that Shame and Guilt were initially meant to play significant roles in the original plot of Inside Out 2. However, after the directors reviewed a version with these characters, they decided to remove them entirely. These emotions made the movie extremely depressing, overshadowing Riley's character arc with severe victimization. The directors also felt the movie wasn't enjoyable with these new additions. One director noted, "It just felt way too heavy and cynical," especially since they were planning to reintroduce Bing Bong, a character known for his cheerful and uplifting qualities.
