As someone who suffers from anxiety I didn't like it. I don't think it's appropriate to make light of other people's challenges. It's not right for young children to know about anxiety yet

So calm down, you aren’t the only one in the world with anxiety. Plus, I’ve worked with young children and have taken child development courses, I know what they can and cannot handle.

The pause on that line was crazy 🗿it's like they knew what they were doing/thinking when writing these scripts.

“Riley’s life requires more sophisticated emotions than all of you,” says Anxiety speaking to Joy. That was a crazy bar if I ever heard one. I feel growing up made it harder to just be joyous/happy with nothing else.

​@@iamcat1797 in the first movie, it was jot trying to keep Riley upbeat and happy all the time, and having a distinct dislike for sadness but realizing she's integral too. This seems more like a chaotic hostile takeover by anxiety (which can be in the clinical, medicated case rather than just puberty). It's not really sharing emotions, it's anxiety literally taking over everything because, well, it's anxiety and it needs to feel that control in an increasingly (seemingly) uncontrollable world. And to them, simple emotions cant/won't protect Riley, because they are...simple

So far, Envy is my favorite character out of the new Emotions, but I'm looking forward to seeing all of the new ones in the movie.

Neither her dad does and it’s an example of how Disney doesn’t follow the logic of its own universe, because adults especially are dealing with anxiety, embarrassment or envy. Again, someone with no talent or knowledge is trying to make a movie that is not needed

The way Anxiety said that her job is to "plan for the future" is soo accurate realistically, always trying to predict future situations at the expense of wasting time in present reality.

Yes, it is planning for the future, it is just terrible and exaggerated planning, with no real world applications and with no concern for factors that have real effect on outcomes. Anxious people sometimes lie to themselves about planning for the future, but the reality that we, non-anxious people, can understand is that their planning suck and have no utility at all. But it is hard to convince them otherwise, since it is the disease talking and not real logic.

I love that they used the “bottle up” scene literally and metaphorically. That’s pretty brilliant considering that whenever we feel anxious, envy, or embarrassment we do bottle up our other emotions sometimes. We grew up with Inside Out as kids, now we’re growing up with Inside Out 2 when we’re older.

We could have have had excitement to balance out anxiety or Giddy(repressed joy). I think depression is a mixture of sadness, fear and anxiety. I also believe she will later get boyfriend/girlfriend and gain lust. I'm suprised that shock(suprise)is not currently an emotion.

At first when I watched inside out I was quite confused why there were only 5 emotions , but now I realized that Riley was a child back then , and slowly as she grows up her emotions are also growing. What an amazing movie ❤totally loving it

This is the perfect representation of a teen going through puberty. the fact that their emotions are all over the place (literally) as well as their emotions being bottled up, causing them to feel more anxiety, and depression, rather than their usual self. puberty sucks, and it's fun seeing it turned into a physical representation. Edit: for people who are saying "thanks for stating the obvious" i KNOW i am stating the obvious, i am just pointing out my respect for it. calm down.

You can see that Anxiety is the villain not because she is bad, but because she somehow wanted the best for Riley and did what she did with her main emotions. Perhaps just as Joy realized that she needed to give space to all the emotions in the first film, Anxiety learns something similar in this one, that there are no more sophisticated emotions and that without the main ones, she and the other 3 are completely useless.

I love inside out too, which is the sequel to the first film inside out where we get to see new emotions debut in this film like anxiety, Envy, Ennui, and embarrassment. They will be Riley‘s new emotions because Riley just turned 13 years old.

Okay, I wasn't expecting Anxiety to _literally_ bottle up Riley's emotions, but that's a really cool twist! Really hyped for this movie!

My only critique would be it's a bit of a retread of the first film, in that regard. Joy tried to bottle sadness by drawing that ring around her, and then they were both stuck in long-term memory. The place the main five emotions are sent looks pretty similar to me.

I really like the new emotion's designs, especially Envy having such giant eyes like she's admiring everyone around her. I also love how Embarrassment is a giant creature who always wants to feel tiny, kinda like how you feel like when you get emabrrassed.

What I appreciate about the first movie, they could have made Fear a total chicken-wuss (brilliant vocab, I know), but he knows he has a job to do. That part where Riley starts to run away for the bus near the end, and he stops her like "are we sure we want to do this?". That, I liked. Shows Fear has a brain. I guess there's fear (one's own safety, somebody's safety, etc), and there's cowardice.

I think it's really heartwarming that Joy has fully accepted Sadness for who she is, and how important she is for Riley. And I like already how Fear and Anxiety are fearful/worried about two completely different things: Fear is worried for more concrete concerns in the present, anxiety is worried about more abstract concerns that could or could not be in the future. Fear is worried about the possibility that Riley could get hit in the mouth with a hockey puck (which is rational and easily fixed), Anxiety is worried that if Riley does not make a good first impression on the cool kids that in the future she will not be popular/have friends (which is irrational but feels oh so important now that she has to or else she will be thinking about it for the next year).

which is precisely what differs anxiety from fear. anxiety is the fear of the future (possible things that could happen - abstract) while basic fear is the fear of an imminent threat, one that’s seen already.

I feel Fear also represents reason to some degree, as he's kind of an in-between emotion (Being their during good and bad occasions). He was the only one to openly criticize Anger's idea of running away in the first movie

i mean... that is exactly what the definition of fear and anxiety is. fear is a response to a perceived threat (e.g. you see a tiger while walking in the jungle) and anxiety is the worry of a threat that has not yet or may never happen (e.g. you are heading to the jungle and scared about the fact that you might encounter a tiger). hope that helps!
