This may surprise some, but Walt Disney himself was notoriously anti-sequel. He seldom made them. When his 1933 animated adaptation of The Three Little Pigs made a lot of money and won an Oscar, he was asked by distributors and theaters to make more cartoons with the characters. He only did them because his brother and business partner Roy O. Disney said they needed the money. The three cartoons starring the characters were nowhere near as successful as the original. From thereon in, Walt Disney would frequently say throughout the years, "You can't top pigs with pigs."

I agree. Because Inside Out is a coming of age story, it’s very much valid that Pixar created a sequel that explores emotions and evolution of psyche you attain as you get older. If they make an Inside Out 3 it should be about Riley as a high schooler transitioning into college or in college. That’s probably where “Nostalgia” will make another appearance.

I honestly wasn’t expecting it to do so well. Color me surprised. I honestly feel this series could be a trilogy at most. The first is Riley as a child, the sequel is her as a teenager, and maybe the third movie could be Riley as an adult looking to start a family of her own but jobs and life get in her way, leading to new emotions like stress. But apparently Joy’s VA is wanting Inside Out to be the next Toy Story. To that I say: Please no. I truly believe Inside Out could work as a trilogy and MAYBE a TV show, but no unnecessary sequels, please.

Honestly, I'm completely on board with Inside Out getting more and more sequels, as long as each movie builds onto Riley as a character and has tons of love and effort put into them. This is a character I really want to see grow up, and I want to see what happens during each stage in her life.

As someone who works at a local business movie theater, Inside Out 2 is a MONSTER. 3/10 theaters are Inside Out and all 3 are usually full and a few days ago, we had around 500 presales per show

I’m grateful that Pixar has rebounded back after 3-4 years on having their films be sent to Disney+ (Soul, Luca and Turning Red), Lightyear bombing at the Box Office and Elemental opening below expectations but soon recovering after grossing more money internationally. Hopefully _Elio_ which releases next June follows the same suit and is a critical and financial success.

My statement was more general than a universal rule. Sometimes good movies flop at the box office and sometimes bad movies make a lot of money.

I hope Disney brings an Inside Out themed attraction to the old Wonders of Life Pavilion at Epcot. Their "Play Pavilion" plan is dead, and I see this IP as the best choice in what was the home of Cranium Command.

I like how it doesn’t go the cliche route when it comes to Riley neglecting her friends. There’s no emotional blowout and breakup, and her apology is naturally done. There’s also no cliche where she turns against the firehawk girls at the end and it’s really nice how she can remain friends with everyone.

Inside Out 2 was so fire. I believe we are in a Pixar/Disney upswing with all the sequels planned

While I am happy that Pixar & Disney are finally catching a dub for once (and I can't wait to watch Inside Out 2 with my sister), but it does worry me that Disney & Pixar are going to be making more sequels and less original content since the failure of Wish. I truly do believe that if they stuck with what Wish was originally going to be and not interfere with the movie and let the animators and writers have full creative freedom with Wish, this wouldn't be happening right now.

Inside out was definitely a pinnacle of what an original and creative movie looks like. I think that’s why it’s so popular, as it’s also a movie that deal with a lot of mental health topics and metaphors.

I clicked on this video when I got home from my local theaters, right after I watched and LOVED the sequel!!

Honestly I wasn’t expecting it to be that good because of disneys recent track record, but it absolutely blew my expectations away

I sadly haven't seen it yet. Not everyone has time to always go to the theater ya know. But I'm really excited for it nonetheless! :D

it was amazing. i watched it twice so far and maybe i will watch it another 2 times. It was a good example of an actually good sequel because it built upon the first one and expanded. I think since Inside Out 1 released 10 years ago, this is perfect timing because their target audience then can be the target audience now. And it also feels surreal seeing more and more emotions.

me and my father watched the inside out sequel in the theaters yesterday on father's day and it was awesome, we loved it.

I dont think the box office aint gon to recover from this one

It's only been 3 days (Im in philippines the movie released here a day early) And there's already a high quality version of the movie being pirated

I NEEDED it to exist this movie gave me so much insight on anxiety and how to cope with it better the ending really tied everything together

No joke, I breathed a sigh of relief! Granted this may or may not reflect the actual quality of the movie itself, but at least it’s doing well! And considering I’m the kind of guy who will enjoy a movie even if it’s not that special or anything, because I personally find it awesome (my thoughts on Wreck It Ralph 2 for example) I’m definitely gonna check this movie out! (However, I do hope they don’t just go all broadly marketable and mass appeal like they’ve been saying, and strike a balance between both mass appeal and personal project films!)

Also, if you counted the success of The Garfield Movie and IF, two other animated films this year that did well at the Box Office. Even if the latter is a live action/animated take on Foster's Home, it still worth a watch.

I haven't seen the movie yet cuz of an illness I won't talk about but I can't wait to see it even more now, thanks to this video.

I haven’t personally seen it yet, but I heard a lot of good feedback about the movie which I’m planning to go see it actually pretty soon also love your videos.

I just hope the amount of people who watched the movie will notice the use of hand drawn animation tools by the characters within a certain moment in the movie, and hopefully the kids who witnessed said moment will want to try out hand drawn animation themselves because of it.

Does not surprise me I love inside out 2 one of my favorite Pixar sequels and one of my favorite movies I have seen this year.

It's simple. Inside Out 2 did well not because they made another movie for cash grab, but because they just had another story to tell.

I got an ad about about inside out 2 for Uber teen. This is the second time this has happened to me 😭

I saw it last weekend, and my theater room was packed! I think that adds some justification

Disney is finally doing something good then they have done in a long time. I hope this means they’re coming back and they’re not gonna make that garbage they been making for the past few years.

@@MinecraftDood02 sequels aren’t inherently bad but companies often piggyback on the IP of the originals without putting effort into making something as well written and creative as the first. IO2 does take notes from the plot of the first a little bit but in a way that complements it, along with enough original jokes and topics to validate its existence.

Honestly when I first watched it I thought I was gonna have a anxiety attack cause well anxiety but it showed a good message and not to let anxiety cloud your life and it ok to feel it just don't let it consume you and have a healthy way of dealing with it

Godzilla -1, and inside out 2 are now on my bucket list.

This is not good. Now they're gonna stick to making sequels, instead of making original films.

I really liked inside out 2 and what it showed. I also loved how Ennui is animated and designed.

I saw it on release day and it was really good. The ending REALLY got my heart racing.

This sequel was needed. Also a sequel about Puberty was hinted at the end of the OG movie

I have to be completely honest. I refused to watch this in theaters because I didn't want to support Pixar making a sequel. And it was for two reason. One: Their track record with sequels is... Not always the best to say the least. I had no high hopes for this movie, even if the trailers seemed pretty "okay". And two, I didn't want this "plan B" of uncreativity and making money off of a sequel, I don't know I thought maybe not supporting their sequel would help them have to come up with more original stuff. Turns out it doesn't really matter that I didn't watch it, but now I'm kinda regretting it. Oh well, atleast there's Disney Plus. Good for you Disney, please don't chuck this money into the dumpster.
