Kevin this is just EPIC. The Frontier, wow. I've only ever seen that in a lab in Spain once. I agree a walk in dedicated space must be fantastic mate.

Not sure with that model of frontier scan but the mini lab I worked at I was the only person to have cleaned the bottom light source filters and lenses. I had to clean it once a month and it collected a bit of stuff. We had a kinetronics brushed mounted on the table by the film holder bucket and it was super convenient as it went through the brushes with the 35 holder. Super helpful with dust reduction.

Very nice setup overall. The bigger CPA Jobos have a pump that cycles water through the machine. I still use a sous vide stick in mine for fine tuning the temp with a digial thermostat, and some extra flow. BTW, I really hope that roll of 120 being beat into the Frontier was a throw away / test roll.

Yes I use the cinestill sous vide in the jobo when I'm using it. honestly I'm mostly using the cinestill stick with Patterson tanks to be honest. With the help of a friend we can process and scan 30 plus rolls that way pretty easy in a day.

Like your video. I am thinking of doing something similar. I am thinking of getting a Jobo processor, probably the smaller one CPE3. I would love to hear your review of Jobo. Some people add a pump from an aquarium to move the water around in the Jobo.

It’s ok…depends what you’re developing. To be honest I end up using the Cinestill kit and Patterson tanks more. It’s just quicker to use. If you develop a crap load of rolls I could see it start to make more sense. Works good for multiple large format sheets for sure though

why people use frontier with ctr monitors? you can just use a vga to hdmi adapter and plug anything modern, even hardware calibrated monitors.

Have you compared SP3000 scans with scans from Noritsu HS-1800?

I am getting my DSLR scanning setup in place, and also own a Leica SL2-S. How do you find the Leica multishot scans vs the GFX you mentioned? Do you have a preference in which camera you typically use, or instances where you prefer one over the other?

For some reason I just slightly prefer the SL scans over the GFX once they get converted. I’m using the 80mm sigma macro lens with great results. The GFX comes out when I’m scanning large format and want more than the flatbed can give me resolution wise

Would you prefer the pakon over the epson expression for running a small film lab? I been using an epson v500 originally for my self but I have been asked to develop film a few times so I been debating on doing it for others as a small business type of thing for fun in my area. I recently had to develop and scan 30 plus rolls and the epson v500 definitely took some time to get it done.

The Pakon is going to be way faster and give better results than a flat bed for 35mm. A full roll only takes 5 min or so and is fully automated. The frontier sp500 will be even better. Double the resolution over the pakon.

@@kevinfickling6384 Thanks for the reply man, I had to do 24 rolls of film the other day and it took a good amount of time to get it done so I been looking into a pakon. I originally started developing film for just myself since I shoot film and it was financially smarter to do it my self, film is expensive enough alone already. Then I stared to get asked to develop for others. I’m not looking to get rich off of it, I just enjoy the whole process and helping people develop new and old film.

Shit, I'm jealous. No chance you're near LA? Ahaha.
