Inside Francis Bacon - Diana Watson's Diary

In this video Martin Harrison, editor of Francis Bacon: Catalogue Raisonné, introduces his essay on Diana Watson's Diary from our book Inside Francis Bacon, published 6 August 2020. This is the third book in our Francis Bacon Studies series.
Diana Watson was Francis Bacon's cousin, close friend and one of his first patrons. Notes from her diary (for 1931 to 1938) reveal important new information about Bacon's early years.

Thank you Martin Harrison for your revealing video; I never knew about 'The Wonder Book of Electricity' whose images echo that white trail in Bacon's 'Turning Figure', 1963.

This is a very astute presentation. The beauty of the canvas surfaces and the depth of Bacon's visionary Art is made that much more clear with this revelation.
