Inside Casa Cabana, Martina Mondadori's Childhood Home

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Join Cabana for an access-all-areas tour of Editor-in-Chief Martina Mondadori's childhood home in Milan. The storied apartment, designed by Renzo Mongiardino, is still the beating heart of Cabana and in many ways Cabana's earliest - and most enduring - inspiration.
Ever since the creation of Cabana 10 years ago, this extraordinary Milanese home has played host and home to the Big Cabana Family. Its richly decorated walls have seen endless parties, lavish dinners and intimate lunches, while collections have been drawn up at its kitchen table and aesthetes have been interviewed in its living room.
It is the childhood home of Cabana founder and Editor-in-Chief, Martina Mondadori, and was decorated by the great Italian decorator, Renzo Mongiardino, completed in 1978. Mongiardino was a close friend of Martina’s mother, Paola Zanussi, and so he considered the space a playground for all of his best stylistic tricks and techniques.

My mum passed away 4 weeks ago and I’ve been soul searching and desperately trying to find my footing again. It’s a sudden full stop on everything you ever knew. You’ve explained it perfectly, what I’m trying to understand is actually the feeling of closure on the me I was and the beginning of another me. A more independent me. Thank you 🙏🏻

What a beautiful home and a heartfelt tribute to her mother. You can almost hear the ripples of laughter and conversations from the dinner table. Stunning ❤

Me too. And the more Martina spoke, the more I longed to meet her mother, or at least see her interviewed; or in her own domain being her best Self. She sounds like an absolutely fascinating woman and mother. What a home...wow. I'd love to have known her in some way. Credit to Martina for conveying this to us all here. I'm sure most of us would love to know more about such a woman, such a life. Her family home is magnificent. We can only dream of a once in a lifetime talent like Mongiardino to decorate and design our own abodes... genius.

One of my all time heroes is Mongiardino! That’s why your esthetic appeals so much. Thanks for sharing this and the wonderful words about your mother.

One of the most beautiful homes I've seen in such a long time, exactly the kind of atmosphere, architecture and general style that I adore, connect profoundly to and am most inspired by. So rare to see great tours like this. Thank you for your generosity in sharing with us your magnificent family home. Wow.

First of all what a beautiful home. I especially love the look of living room with beautiful upholstered sofa with 2 wicker chairs on each side. The colors and layering give it a very European look. Lastly, the host is exquisite. The beautiful dress is so flattering. Wonder who is the dress label.

Beautiful video and a beautiful home. As much as I love the magazine (and the videos of course) I now think that this particular video is a lot more special, and feels just as intimate as the "A House & A Host" in The Grove with Ashley.

Well, in 7 minutes she only had time to talk about the house (which was the main point), and the important link to her mother. The house is beautiful and the tribute to her mother I found very touching, and I don't tend to be at all sentimental. She spoke very formally to accommodate the format and mood of the video. I imagine, with friends around the table and no cameras rolling, she's delightful. Regards from Indiana.

Curious how you would have directed the video? In 7 minutes she only had time to talk about the house (which was the main point), and the important link to her mother.
