Inside an American MiG-29

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Step into the cockpit of America’s only private, airworthy MiG-29. This aircraft is owned and flown by Jared “Rook” Isaacman as flagship of the Polaris Program’s Ghost Squadron. It is used primarily as an advanced training resource to provide Polaris Program astronauts with experience they will use on their missions. This MiG-29 can also be seen in the skies over America in air show performances that showcase precision flying and bring awareness to the team’s partnership with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Jared's MiG-29 is the only airworthy, privately owned MiG-29 in the entire United States. It also stands out due to it being the two seat “UB” variant. This model was designed to train Soviet pilots how to fly the MiG-29 with an instructor so that they could eventually transfer to the single seat variant. The aircraft has been demilitarized so any weapon systems present are non-functional.

Like an airborne supercar with weapons. Dazzlingly stylish, graceful and elegant shape, I always admired the MiG-29. It just looks like such FUN to fly one. Hard to believe it's just another machine designed for killing people! It's a weapon of war and nothing else. Still a cool machine though.

I saw this bird last summer at AirVenture Oshkosh 2023, it was an amazing airshow. The thunder from those RD-33 engines reverberates through your chest! Great performance and aerobatics, the G's must have been something to experience in the back seat! They did formation flying with a Mig-17 at the show too! The Mig-17's afterburner is quite unique with it's pulsing flame vs the Mig-29's smooth flame with thrust/mach diamonds extending outward.

legally sourcing the spare parts for the both them is pretty tricky especially US strict policy for in-service aircrafts but, if you're talking about the black market ones then the MIG-29 is a lot easier to deal with.

I think this is one of the Polish M-29s put up for auction for $1 dollar about fifteen or twenty years ago. I'd wonder the airframe hours on that thing

Russians HATE letting their pilots see outside. There was a version of the Mig-21 with so much added-on shit in the way of the already ridiculously small windows they put a periscope in so they could taxi, take off and land.
