I spent hundreds of hours glued to Friday Night at the Blue Horizon during the late 80's and 90's. Thanks a million - this was the center of boxing for two decades.
I totally thought the random squatter guy coming to the door was a joke and it would actually be sylvester stallone that came to give you a tour or something
The proper people doing proper cinematography, and proper documentation in a proper way. This is why I subbed. Keep it up guys. 👌🏻✌🏼🔥

One of my favorite things about this location is the fact it is not vandalized or graffitied, and just interesting. Great vid!
You guys do an amazing job of letting the scenery speak for itsself. These videos can get very wordy and it's distracting. The music combined with the nice shots is what makes you stand out as an exploring channel.
Also!! i can't be the only one who after finishing watching these abandoned videos, i youtube the same location and watch videos of when this venue was actually in use, filled with hundreds of people? such an eerie feeling
Sometimes you gotta pay to play. That extra cash is probably really helping that guy out. Good find.
Holy cow! It's so sad to see the Blue Horizon in this condition, I boxed there as an amateur super heavyweight in my youth. This was the mecca of Philadelphia boxing!
I love these vids, mostly for the architecture and history. Soon, many of these places will be torn down to make way for a parkingspot or a condo and the beauty of these places will be lost forever.

Yeah... :-( I'm seeing it in my home town as well. The old houses are being torn down, one by one, to make way for modern buildings. Now, modern buildings might be safer and more efficient to live in, but they don't have the quirky charm the older buildings had.
That's a whole lot of chairs just chillin'.
This place is fantastic! I wonder how much of the interior is original to when it was built in 1865, that's the same year president Lincoln died, btw. I heard that some owners will hire homeless men to protect their buildings. It's probably cheaper then hiring a night watchman, and you get 24/7 protection. THE GATE KEEPER...
I FUCKING DIED AND RESURRECTED WHEN I SAW UR GUYS' VIDEO IN MY SUB BOX. holy fuck
Well, that was sketch at the beginning! Hahaha!
"left most side door" - knocks on the right side 😂😂😂😂😂
Great video and that building is amazing!! Thanks for all your hard work you two!!
Yess! I was really excited to see the camera slider make a return. Feels like it's been a while. Also, did he charge you the $20 for a certain amount of time? Is that why you asked how much time you had left? So bizarre!

So weird. Guy probably has a nice side gig going on... Wonder what the owner is trying to do with the place. The random barriers and blocked doors are especially bizarre.

Great video as always guys. I love how you pay full respect to the places you visit, even the simple things such as putting the lock back in its original position.
Love the slider work. Great as always guys!
It's actually pretty sad to see a boxing ring abandoned like that, I would gladly buy it if I lived there!
That awkward moment when the "old" vacuum that's in this video is the same one you have...

Great Video The Proper People, keep em comin'! Love the Beauty, the Architecture, & the History! Sweet!!
I think the use of focus pulls and sliders in this video really adds to it in a positive way, seems more like a professional production rather than just a walk through. I wish you would incorporate some stills that you guys take during the video into the video. Great job guys Keep it up!!!!
I've been meaning to say, I found this channel fairly recently and in just over a week of watching I'd been through every video on your channel and I really do love your work. The cinematic shots you do are amazing and I love how you include an information overview of the location and history too. Your videos are some of my favorites, I didn't know that urbex was even a thing really but I'm so glad that I found your content because I've always loved this stuff and its been great to find out more about it! You always visit the most interesting places too damn So thank you, The Proper People :D I hope you continue to do what you do, it really is fantastic work! //and sorry for my long winded gushing about this

it was the greatest place in the world to watch boxing. no, it wasn't the top level champions during their prime, but freaking fantastic for club level boxing up to USBA and NABF title fights. the crowd was so close to the ring you had to fight hard or be booed out....if you weren't KOd first.
Love all the wood work through places like this. Another great job Bryan and Micheal.
Thanks for all the entertainment guys seriously. Vids are awesome
Wow! I missed this little gem! I may have started watching you guys only 5 years ago and only went forward and watched new videos. Not sure. Glad I found it!
I have some great memories of this venue...went to fights there with my dad. Thanks for sharing.
My friend introduced me to you guys and your channel and i have to say this is pretty interesting with exploring abandoned places with that sort of creepy effect especially with Halloween around the corner. I am definitely going to be a subscriber so keep it up guys!!
great filming work. love the slider.
I lived a few blocks from the Blue Horizion.. my dad took me to see my first fight here in the 1980's.. I couldn't believe that this 'old brown building' was a boxing arena right in my neighborhood... we sat in the balcony.. it was SO LOUD.. you could hear EVERY single punch up in the balcony.. a surreal expereince... the walls were sold plaster so the crowd was deafening! The lobby regal expereince... sad to see it shut down.. but I'll never forget it...

right on Mr. Icecream. if you ever saw a fight there you wouldn't forget it. i announced the fights in there for the last 7 years they were opened, but it was part of my life for 21 years.
Glad to watch you guys again.
Beautiful building, love the old architecture. Thanks guys!!!!!!😀
Literally liked it before it started. Love the content keep it up.
This video might not get a crazy amount of views, but this is by far the most interesting to me! awesome video Michael!
Amazing find, yet so sad to see. My Grandad and Great Grandad boxed and frequented venues like this in the UK. The first room at 2:14 is were they would've done the weigh-ins and some press stuff the night before the fights. I can only imagine the amount of ecstasy and despair that those changing rooms have seen over the years, first time wins, career ending losses. The feeling you get stepping through the ropes and hearing that bell ding is unbelievable. If only those walls could talk.
Now that is a classy place, I can imagine all well dressed people in there watching a boxing match. Smoking cigars and all that. Great that someone could let you in, I get angry at people who owns places like this and do not want to let urban explorers go in and film it for YT. Why not, it is history and let others enjoy it too before it is gone forever. You guys should try to ask owners of other interesting places if they would let you in if you came up with money, they might be more interested then ?

the bottom of the wooden seats had a wire hat rack. when men all wore hats you could removed the hat and put in on the wire under your seat....safe and off the floor.
Hey Proper People I just wanna say that you guys make awesome vids and I love the fact that you work so hard on the vid yet you don't get all the credit thought I think you should AND your vids are the best.
I'm from Philly and had seen quite a few fights here! Last fight I saw here was around 2007. It was always a good time and i preferred the balcony seats (I'm short lol). There are a lot of beautiful buildings in the area with some history behind them. I haven't been in that part of North Philly in some time so I have no idea what's happening in that spot. Boxing has come back to Philly and fights can be seen at The Met, an Opera house built in the early 1900s, not far from the Blue Horizon. The Met was closed for a good 20-25 years before they renovated and reopened last year. I love your videos!!
Love the music choice in this! It must also be annoying, being so pressed for time while exploring a building. It would make me feel constantly on edge.
Lol, I live 5 miles away. Be careful around these parts bro.
Great work!
Very nice find, loved watching it :-)
The projector room has the creepiest door I've ever seen!
nice one guys, pretty strange being in there with some random guy haha, at least he was sound! better than not getting in at all huh :)

Great Job guys!
Wait a second, I think I remember this boxing ring from the Rocky game on the PS2 and the Xbox!
You guys do such a good job with your videos you should have a tv show
For those wondering I think this is the ring used in press training sequence in Rocky 3 when Mick was telling him how this is stupid and they should go back to the old gym and train the old way. Which mick was right
thank you notification hahaha. I'm so early and even I haven't finish the video yet, I know this is going to be good
Maaaan, the slider shots are ace!
If it's important enough to warrant a sign from the historical society...doesn't that mean it should be upkept or something? Maybe turn it into a boxing museum...
remember going here to watch amateur bouts this is where philly grew up in the fight circuit it was nothing to say I got a fight at the blue tonight great video thanks
This place was also in the movie Annapolis (one of my favorite boxing movies)
Cool video again!
we had one like this here in buffalo ny they sold it and it was turned into a concert venue it did great!
the thing at 6:11 look like the remains of a motor-generator set
I loved this! That boxing ring was awesome, and it was nice too see it wasn't trashed badly . Not too sure about that doorkeeper though.
The editing is so marvellous, it's like I'm in a Tarantino movie XD

Pretty cool place, I was in there a few times when I was a bike messenger in about 2006-08 and it wasn't in much better condition at that point.
Great vid as always guys! Was the majority of the video parts recorded from the GoPro?
Watching old pics of this place full of people make it looks even weirder

i wanna go here next weekend to take some cool shots but were you not allowed to go in the actual boxing ring?
If the owner was there, maybe he didn't want visitors. That doesn't mean the guy "is homeless and doing it without permission". He has keys.
How did you guys do the camera shots around 3:30? It looked really smooth and I feel like those would have been hard to do by hand
Heart almost stopped when you went to knock again and he opened the door!
How do you do those smooth panning shots like the one at 3:14 to 3:21? I would like to make shot like that in an a abandoned building, should I find one.

Great job, looks a lot like the abandoned buildings from europe.
Now that was Super, Thanks Guy's
What do y'all use to get your slider shots so steady? I have the same one actually, but can never seem to move it by hand smoothy enough
1:22 does anyone know what video this tunnel is from? Cheers
Can you guys try more like torn up more in ruins areas where it's just you guys? Also a big area would be awesome :)

Tim James is correct. the cops came in and tried to shut it down DURING a fight card. they allowed it to finish. they came in on the premise that they didn't have the proper license to sell beer and food, but it was really tax problems. it needed so much in repairs that all the grant $$ was used up quickly.
