Inside A Designer's Home Filled With Unusual Objects

“I think I’m a bit of a hoarder,” says Charlotte Taylor softly, as she runs her fingers through a bag of some 600 lighters. “These have become such an obsession that even my business card is a lighter.” This collecting habit of hers has made our visit to her home in the suburbs of London all the more interesting. Every white-walled space is filled with intriguing objects galore - from impractical wooden tools to piles of sudoku books (“I have them in every single room of my house, even the bathroom”). But think again if you’re imagining nooks and crannies crammed with thoughtless knick-knacks. Charlotte’s interiors are highly considered and beautifully curated, defined by a palette of calming neutrals. See for yourself: join us as she shows us around in our latest film and selects just seven of her favourite things.

I love how it’s cluttered and organized at the same time

You mean … organised clutter
I absolutely loved the vibe of her and her home!
She said she’s becoming a bit of a hoarder. She’s the cleanest hoarder I’ve ever seen 😅
A Hoarder concealed by minimalist aesthetic, I think is the best way to describe her.

I wouldn't call her a hoarder - she collects things that only strike her fancy, not any random rubbish.

Picking unusual items to be part of your home is somehow speaks about the character of the home owner as someone who sees beauty in a different perspective. 💖✨
It's beautiful and the objects are so well chosen ! You are not a hoarder, but rather a curator. Well done!
She's so intriguing, from the get go! I enjoyed this, also, I think she's probably excellent at giving presents!
the vibe, the wooden objets... love it all
HANDMADE HOUSES, ONE OF THE LOVELIEST BOOKS EVER....
I have followed Charlotte on IG for years, shes one of my favorite interior designers and is so relieving to see her actual energy and her intimate space.

Love her vibe and her home space ❤
Love charlotte, so glad you all did this!
Like the stuff and yet the calm, open spaces. Inspiration!
Charlotte has some wonderful objets. Her interesting mind shines through
I love the set of usually shaped drawers and I like your collection of 'tools.' I love them too.
Love her style and I can so relate to the love she has for her cherished possessions.
love her laid-back vibe. so soothing and legit. yay Charlotte, I totally relate ❤ I need one of those tiny wood chest of drawers pls 😭
I love the simplicity and color scheme.
Having books with the spines the wrong way round, just for the aesthetic seems pretty silly to me. Must be pretty hard to find the book you want.

It is or was a very stupid trend. As soon as I noticed it I lost interest in anything she had to say. I just can’t respect people who jump on moronic trends like that.
Loved watching this. Thank you x
I want that cabinet of curiosities, absolutely exquisite.
what a lovely lady in a lovely house!
The hammer and lipstick knife are amazing!
I love it, it's unique and different!
Love the wooden tools❤❤❤
love the lighter business card.
I like this especially the kitchen she essms like a delightful person 😃
Lovely space!
A wonderful collection of interesting objects and carvings. Really earthy home. My only concern is the amount of combustible fuel in those lighters. Are they stored in a cool place?
Lovely!
Her bedroom is quite monastic
Magical!
I love it so much
i really wish i knew who that artist/woodworker was - the one who made the wooden drawers. so beautiful.
Dictee on the bed- now that’s fabulous 👍😃🍻
I've never understood people who turn the spines in the wrong direction. Why even keep books if you want to disable their utility?

Of course, but some spines are just so loud ...
Great house. Traditional London houses can feel kind of small because of their architecture, so great job on making it still feel light and airy. Only thing would be to do more with the backyard! There are so many better things than grass (both aesthetically and environmentally)!

*Great place* 👍
I have that same hammer. I've had it since I was a kid.
you had me at sudoku
I like your house very neat and tidy , my house is like a hoarder house at the moment because of non sequence , I spent on collecting before renovation but gradually it will become nice with maximalist and minimalist concept , combination of art gallery , photography studio movie , audio areas I like more space for working and relaxing 😅😂🤣😋😝🤪😛😜
you should frame the lighters in like a cabinet
Amen.
Does anyone know from where the living room chairs are from?
🔥

I REALLY didn't get this one 😆
I love the generic “suburbs of London”, where literally millions of people live and dramatically changes from area to area.
'Coolie' lampshade a bit cockeyed - but perhaps that's meant to be!
Charlotte do be careful of you butane propane flammable gas lighters hoard they can leak and spontaneously combust !? Some electric ignition lighters can short out and the liquid flammable pressurised gas can corrode over time the seals and leak ! Store individually upright in metal box where they cannot mechanically rub or interlock causing accidental ignition of their mechanisms. Be mindful of this amount of lighters stored randomly in a flammable bag is an extreme fire danger and could combust and trap you in your exit to your beautiful home.
Really a fun place but not sure how the wooden desk chair can be comfortable for longer periods of time.
Dictee!

ah shit here we go again
Why one would wear outside high heeled boots around the house just screams unclean lodgings to me. Her way of life triggers my OCD but the place is nice.
When Ms Taylor said that the beautiful rounded wood cabinet she bought on Etsy was made by "not anyone in particular," rather than praising the craftsperson, or better, going to the trouble (it would have taken lher less than a minute) to name the maker, well, I think that basically gave away her attitude toward creative people. This holds true for the creator of the whimsical oversized wooden tools as well. And no, I'm not any of these craftspeople, and I don't sell anything on Etsy. But a little more respect, and generosity please, for the creative people who give so much pleasure! (I'm afraid I stopped watching after the wafty Etsy remark...)

very bizarre that she loved the object enough to feature it on the show but apparently not enough to name or support its creator

She said it's from Ebay and not Etsy, herein we can infer that it wasn't by a 'creator' or 'seller' who would benefit from a praise in a random video you stumbled upon lmao
Is this mommy n daddys house
Where are the ganjas ❤
Eek! Record player on the floor! 😢
Introvert ❤
Turning all the books around in the shelf is completely useless….
She has never worked a day in her life!
Feminine space? If this doesn’t prove that masculine and feminine is a subjective definition.. love it though
What a lovely girl...
The ‘not by anyone in particular’ comment about the beautifully crafted wooden drawers feels snobbish 😢 Dozens hours of work went into that piece. There would be a much better way of saying you don’t know who made it.
민들레노래방~
When I see books with the spine towards the wall, I assume the owners of the home are full of bull. Makes decisions for show only. Tells me a lot about them
It looks like she bought a few pieces of modern furniture the day before this shoot to fill an empty, unfortunate looking space
Why the accent?
She seems boring, like her home.
Nice 😎
❤
