This week, we visit one of the sleekest homes that you'll find - a very sizeable 1,518 square foot Executive HDB home in Bukit Batok. Home owners Natalie and Sean were attracted to this 25-year old flat despite its age because they were able to see the potential of the unit. Clearly, their priority was space, and with something clean yet sophisticated in mind - they found the right ID that they resonated with and could fit their brief.
What's really special here is that smooth and seamless floor, which they flew in an Italian floor specialist to complete the job over the course of the week. The result is something really refined (showroom-like) as you aren't able to see any grout lines. That clean look is seen throughout the house, with the way the cabinetry is installed to keep it minimalist and flushed, to the way the TV console and its wires were hidden.
Finally, as a result of their keen interest in keeping fit and ultimate frisbee, one room was dedicated to a gym so that they did not need to travel to keep fit!
Special thanks to Natalie and Sean for taking the time to show us around their home. For more on their sleek home, please visit: / bkt.btk

    Love the house which are not too cluttered and feel very relaxed when u step in. Love the pebble floor at the main entrance too. Nowadays the trend I saw online are super many plants, super many things laying on the floor and super many things on the wall too.

    noticed that too, I naturally gravitate towards minimalism, but even for me it is slightly too empty (I guess it may change with time - more personal objects etc). Stil a great space tho. And love the ending, I found there is a pattern with some videos - a funny bit at the very end. Love it!

    I like the fact that architectural elements were added to make it more appealing. The idea of minimal visual clutter is something that they managed to achieve. May I ask where are the furniture from because the American walnut furniture is functional and aesthetically pleasing? Lastly, the frisbee playing in the home is really cool and fun!

    Just curious! Can I ask why did the couple spend so much on renovations when the lease life left is quite little?

  • @StackedHomes

    @StackedHomes

    2 жыл бұрын

    Likely because they would outlive the lease, and depreciating the cost of renovation over the next 75 years is pretty cheap. The quality of life gained from such a renovation could also be worth it to them 👌 In addition, while we won't say that renovation cost can be recovered upon sale of the unit, having a nice flat does make your flat more in demand, and could potentially save on the next owner's renovation costs so some of it could be recovered later on.

    That's true, but we suppose it only happens at certain times and not all day. Moreover, sounds from the gym room would be more tolerable compared to the sporadic sounds of children running up and down the house since there's lesser restraint from them, and house flooring is usually not padded unlike the one at the gym.

    They only just moved in quite recently so perhaps more things would be added around the house to make it more warm and less echoey 👌

    Everything is nice and clean when you first moved in. Good luck on maintenance - and if you want to keep it this way don’t have kids. If you have a maid on in laws coming to help with child minding - all these nice and zen times will be gone.

    A place without books, art, plants & color is very sterile .Is like living in a luxury jail cell.

    You should NOT feature a newly moved house. It is empty! 4 of 10!

    Hey! It's just to get to know them a little better and adds a little bit more depth to the owners without detracting too far from the interior design of the home 👌
