2990 amps, approx 3500W at normal voltages. I really don’t understand manufacturers. First they massively underspend VRMs and got called out… now they massively overspec VRMs and get called out for silliness… I’m pretty sure 8 or 12 phase VRMs with current high spec 70 or 90A power stages are MORE than adequate. Why? Because I’ve seen setups with that kind of power handling on older HEDT stuff… so can we please get that? Not doubled 4 phase designs with crap components, not designs capable of pushing 1kW plus on mainstream boards, just something in between for normal people ty? And if we can still get post codes that’d be jam.

What, 10 M.2 slots on that Taichi (03:05)? CPUs are rumored to have 20 PCIe 5.0 lanes, no? Do they support some kind of bifurcation that lets you "convert" PCIe 5.0 x2 to PCIe 4.0 x4 or how does that even work?

Looks like im not touching their boards for my next build. I absolutely hate that mobo manufacturers are pushing 7 segment debug readouts onto $400+ boards. They used to be common on ~$100 boards but now it's exclusively in a mid to premium tier even though it's a cheap add-on for them. It's genuinely infuriating that something so useful is being gated as a premium feature across the industry.

Those "lite" motherboards seem like a welcome step in the right direction. For too long have mobo prices been driven up by superficial fluff. Some people just want a strictly functional motherboard with little to no regard for aesthetics, before shoving it into a windowless case. Motherboards used to be like that.

I remember seeing board partners put overly-beefy VRM setups on x470 motherboards. Some x470 boards could run the 2700x with the heatsinks removed, and the VRM's still wouldn't get too hot. I'd say this means Zen 6 Ryzen 9 processors will have 24 to 32 cores.

sucks to see so few PCIe slots on ATX boards, compared to say their ASRock Z77 Extreme11 from years ago; especially when CPUs back then had even less lanes. I really don't mind M.2 slots in general but the PCIe slots are much more versatile generally (and with expansion boards you can add way more) in that same board region, especially when other boards show how you can add those standard M.2 NVMe slots in the PCH area and also near the RAM region or even on the rear of the board. With ASMedia or similar switches, you could have 5-to-7 slots (even if x4 that's fine) and still have multiple M.2 slots, and a bunch of I/O still.
