Crazy things can happen when one becomes desperate for survival. Sometimes hunger makes animals attack things they wouldn't normally. Sometimes fear of being attacked makes animals fight ferociously against something they normally wouldn't survive. Nature can be both beautiful and cruel. Nature does not play favorites though. You either have what it takes to survive or you don't... If you do not then death is the only release. I once wished to take photos for national geographic. When I went into the Navy I tried for PH a photographers mate but, at the time the rate was merging with others so I was not approved for it. Great photos filled with life. These photos are worth more than a thousand words.
I've taken about 104,000 photos over 54 years, and this creative videos may be the best I have ever seen! Congratulations!

I just woke up on Christmas Day with breakfast at hand. Turned on the Tv and KZread to watch your video review about the updated R5. The beginning of the video with the fisherman on the beach was spectacular. I have not watched your videos for a little but I was relaxed and took it all in. When thatPelican came in I had jaw drop 😮. Your narration of your video make an intense moment sound so calm allowing one to hear and see and digest your skills and capabilities. I totally forgot about the R5 and was truly immersed in this display of all out WAR ON THE WATER! It was a definite display of air prowess and the 😢desperation to survive. I thought the Osprey was done for but when it rolled with talons unhinged I knew ya boi 😂was not going down without a fight. Superb Display of photography and airmanship. Merry Christmas Mark. I will be sure to share this!

Being in the avian field for the past 30yrs. Having worked "hands on" with everything from Warblers to Birds of Prey. I don't believe i've EVER seen something this incredible....!!! I know Brown Pelican's swallow just about anything as i've seen gulls go into their throat pouches, Pigeons, etc...But NOT something as large as an Osprey. What an incredible moment too have captured on film. Very lucky individual indeed.

Oh man, I have never been glued to my laptop like this before. All the time routing for the Osprey. A few friends of mine and I were flyfishing on the Missouri River in Montana for trout. This Osprey dove down and caught a trout. He then flew up and started circling overhead. He circled for what seemed like five minutes and chirping the whole time. Next, he flew downstream maybe a hundred yards and started circling another angler. I am 99% positive that Osprey was "SHOWING OFF". He was proud of his catch and was saying,(chirping) "look what I caught" as he flew in circles with that trout in his talons. I also thought, he is saying, I'm better at fishing than you guys. I am a new subscriber, thanks, I love Ospreys, they are awesome birds, and only eat fish.

Pelicans, I am learning are a determined birdie, especially when hungry. I've seen that they'll try to eat anything whether or not it should. Doesn't matter if the prey is larger than their head. Just insane. Thanks Mark for sharing an awesome video and your narrative description was superb!

This bird and the Great Blue Heron are pretty much The Boss. As you say if they can, they will swallow it all up . In the evolution scale, is diving and scooping for fish more advanced then sneaking up and and skewering. These birds have a boldness and seemingly cold calculatedness in their own class. American Alligators are after those herons for their lost babies and now I wonder if Pelicans are on the alligator menu too, and, it's as personal as that brown pelican osprey rivalry. Extreme hunger Vs extreme protection of progeny. Our human biological imperatives is THE primary target of our global predator caste AK∆ Grave Global Pirateering Plantation "Ø W 'N, € ® $ "
