Vanessa's A5 sounds so impressive, idk she has this metal sound that lowkey sounds heady but she still sounds so full and the glissando, the vibrato and the overall ease, that note really impressed me

But leaving you obsession with range and high notes aside, the fact remains Aretha had a far more beautiful voice than Patti with clearer diction, greater clarity, a fuller sound, a rounder softer sound, far greater agility, far more beautiful tone, more inspiring belts and just a far superior sound all round. Something about Aretha’s voice just does it for me. Her ease, technique, tone, and soul make her the best belter in my book.

Aretha and Patti are slayage per usual. Sohyang is a Goddess in that upper 5th belting range, so is Vanessa. Paullete really shocked me and I'm here for her. Ariana has a gorgeous ring, and Jonalyn was good as well up to Bb5...after she started to fade but she was eating.

For most singers it only sounds pleasant untill Bb5. But Aretha an Patti aren't other singers

imo patti, aretha and sohyang are the best here. the rest are still absolutely amazing tho but those 3 will forever be my faves.

It is very difficult to choose who wins because they are all amazing. 😍

Sohyang has my favourite upper belts. The notes genuinely don't sound as high as they actually are because of how incredibly full and well rounded they are. It offers such an incredible tonal quality as well as phenomenal ease and power. Aretha's hit different! The raw emotion that comes in when Aretha sings anything is palpable (also her technique is utterly phenomenal). Ariana has a stunning voice and I love her high belt but it is not really up to par with the rest here. I feel that Patti is someone that never really had to work much on reaching those notes so she didn't spend a huge amount of time learning to balance them so sometimes they come out as a bit shouty. They are absolutely brilliant though and I do enjoy a good bit of Patti. This Paulette lady is someone I'm only just discovering now why? She is remarkable. Her upper belts is one of the best here and that breath control, ugh. She is a marvel. Jonalyn Viray is another I don't know much about but her ability to sustain and effortlessly flow through her range is outstanding. What an incredible talent. I don't like Vanessa's voice at all. She's just too shrill for me, it could be as a result of her excessive use of twang but whatever it is I don't like it. It is very technically proficient and impressive but for me, it's a no.

All of them sound incredible!

Aretha's belt in 'Laughing on the Outside' is unmatched in its ferocity and perfect pitch, as are her other belts in this video, just a better quality of sound, with musical merit.

Feels so funny to witness a battle where Ariana is the first to go out with a top note of B5 (where in battles with other singers she stays till the end) 😂

I typically agree but I enjoyed some of the notes in this video, but typically I would say Bb5 is a safe limit

In my opinion a singer shouldn't belt this high unless they have chest. Aretha and Patti are the only famous singers who still had a lot of chest this high. Others just lack core. If you ask me, belting a chesty e5 is way more impressive than mixing b5.

Actually using less chest is going to give some singers an advantage by being able to be more free while utilizing different resonant strategies.

My Opinion: F#5 - Tie G5 - Paulette, Pattie, Vanessa, Aretha G#5 - Ariana & Sohyang A5 - Paulette & Vanessa Bb5 - Tie B5 - Sohyang & Jonalyn C6 - Paulette, Pattie, Sohyang, Jonalyn C#6 - Paulette D6 - Pattie It seems that Paulette stole my ear. 👀

1)Aretha(so much ease, best tone, never strained) 2)Paulette(so powerful and resonant, great tone) 3)Jona(again, great power, resonance and tone) 4)Sohyang(most supported super high belts) 5)Patti(insane power and stamina, vocal savagery) 6)Vanessa(very impressive, annoying tone) 7)Ariana(again impressive but overall too airy and not much power) Great video btw If you do a part 2 you should include Amber Riley, Jennifer Hudson, Charice, Lea Michele and Morissette (even though Lea and Morissette are more mid belters, they still have some amazing upper belts)

Vanessa hasn't got less ease than Ariana, and even strains less than Ariana lol, Ariana raises her larynx in some G#5s and Bb5's. While Vanessa keeps the notes free and healthily grounded. Vanessa's tone can be too much too lol

Paulette is far better in mix voice and belt.

4:22 that has to be in the top 3 most relaxed A5s I've ever heard

only Vanessa and SoHyang can carry support up to C6 (SoHyang produces resonance) while the others' notes are strained above A5/Bb5. that's all

Sohyang belt are more powerful and more resonance even if some people are telling that she sound harsh in ears but its ok , being soprano are normal to sound like that because that's their way to reach some powerful notes ,✅✅✅ I read on Wikipedia that she trained for more than 20 years before she hit that type of notes like (G5),(Bb5),(A5),(B5),(C6),(C#6),(D6)

Demi rarely goes above G5, and they struggle at Bb5. Jessie can be very tense up there as well. Gotta agree with Ally and JHud, they could be a fair replacement for Ariana (I love her high belts, but these two have more power and breath control).

The only PNEUMONIA girl that still slay some of these singers..just imagine if she is 100% HEALTHY, well there will be small percentage to beat her🤩😘🥳

But I am a major Patti labelle fan and have many videos and CD's and I can tell you many Filipina singers on this video and others are copying old Patti Labelle performances and music albums from the past. If you never followed Patti labelles work you wouldn't even know they are copying her. In Some cases they are copying an old performance exactly and pretending Like they created it new. They may not talk about knowing Patti labelles performance publicly but they are at home rewinding the old tape 100x to copy her. That is the truth.

Agreed, her chest has gotten even nicer as she’s aged, even if she’s lost a few top belts (haven’t heard any belts live above Bb5 from her since 2014) and her head voice has gotten even better. Honestly I think Vanessa has overall improved with age even if she can’t belt as high as she used to.

Arethas G5 was so powerful, yet crystal clear, sounded extremely natural. Patti of course can soar above the clouds with ease at any moment and sustain it. Arianna is beautiful but has the least power, soyhang's is absolutely beautiful but it almost seems like she is yelling or "making noise" instead sometimes, the others where also good

Patti wins by far because most clips she was already performing like 1 hr into a concert while these other people was just doing notes at home or a 1 song performance

Regine velasquez should one of the best belter here.

Even though Ariana's technique can't compare to other singers on this list, but her tone is much more pleasant to ear than all others. It's more distinctive, all others sounds kinda the same, after some time others sounds actually really annoying to me, while Ariana doesn't sound like that. That's why Ariana is for me best upper belter, she's impressive but also sounds nice.
