You’d be foolish not to use any drug that might give you an advantage in something as dangerous as war. The long term risks of abuse or addiction are irrelevant when you might get killed tomorrow. Not to mention the fact that the vast majority never became addicted.

Truth. It was done in a report that only about 6% actually became addicted. This is because they didn’t use the same people over and over. In war, you’ll send in certain squadrons to do certain jobs. Once an area has been successfully locked down by artillery, guard duty is next. They take one to keep them up...they rest to sleep it off and give each other breaks to come down.

This has been said here already but i think its important. They did not use psylocibin containing mushroom, they used the amanita muscaria. The main active compound in them is muscimal witch although can cause visions or hallucinations, is not a psychedelic in the traditional sense.

Dexedrine also called go pills for airforce pilots. It's the right handed isomer of methamphetamine. Its still given to airforce pilots. Was given in Vietnam as whitecrosses. Whjtecrosses where ment to be broken into 5 pieces for a 5 days of doses but not everyone read the package and took all 5 doses at once. Benzodrine is the same thing.

Cool video. I'm surprised no mention of the experimental use of LSD in the Vietnam War. Apparently it seems to be linked to the wide spread cases of "flashbacks" that veterans would experience after that war, usually for the rest of thier lives. There is a great movie called "Jacob's Ladder" (1990) that depicts the horror of being in the Vietnam conflict while being unwittingly doped up on LSD during combat and the long term implications one would endure. It's one of my favorite movies, if you find this topic intriguing definitely check it out but make sure it's the original from 1990, not the remake.
