Welcome to another Race Car Feature on this channel.
A few weeks ago I was at Hampton Downs Motorsport Park for the Racing Season Finale.
In the last video from Day 1, I featured the all-new 1969 Mustang driven by Paul Clarke in the Central Muscle Cars Racing Series.
On Day 2 we witness the incredible feats of this racing-oriented, totally hardcore C5 Corvette with mad aero built at Brennan Motorsport and driven by Grant Brennan, here competing in the "Super V8" Racing Series and together with two 2 classes, "TA2 NZ" & "V8 Utes".
This season has being difficult for the Brennan Team, with a few gremlins to sort out between Rounds. Today we find the perfect conditions to see and hear the full potential of this incredible race car. Enjoy this special feature with Race 1 and Race 2, both starting on a Rolling Start basis.
Brennan Motorsport wishes to thank:
Simon Mcbeth from UK
Neil from Geartronics UK

Really great onboard footage ❤️🙏 But me being NOT a race car driver I do have a probably „dumb“ question: Why is Grant kind of „pumping the brakes“? 🤷🏻♂️ (At least it looks like it to me 🥴) And is there a special reason why he chose to have the up- and down-shifts on the same pedal? (Which I think is not bad at all, tbh I think that‘s really smart 👍) Thanks for the great video, I really appreciate it and all the best from Germany 🇩🇪, Philipp 👋 EDIT: And I do apologize in advance for my nonexistent English „skills“ 🫣🥴
@racecars.universe

Hey Philipp, you're a legend, thanks for your comment. 1) pumping the brakes is quite common in racing. Sometimes a pad pushes the brake pistons back enough so that when you go braking it takes longer distance to push the pedal. 2) up and down shifts on the same paddle shifter is inspired to karts, a very common feature on those vehicles.

I dont think 40/60 weight distribution on FR platform is possible, even C6 Z06 with transaxle and aluminium block can only achieve 50/50

If you setback both engine and transmission anything is possible

I don’t think there’s any Corvette frame in this car, looks like a custom tube frame which would allow freedom of design to get the weight balance wherever they want.

50/50 is the ideal. 60/40 is what most cars are closer to. Corvettes have a torque tube setup so the gearbox is in the back on the axle.

@@R6AAO50/50 is the ideal in theory, but in practice you want a bit more weight over the rear thanks to how weight transfer works. Under braking, this means you get better overall usage of all four tires as the balance shifts forwards, and on acceleration you immediately have more available traction.

@@R6AAOnot this corvette, trans at front, runs a driveshaft, other than body shell there is nothing corvette about the car.

Dude breaks way too early. This car has way more grip.
@racecars.universe

Depends on which lap though, grip doesn't come on until roughly the 6th to 8th lap
200 mph is 320 km/h, not 300. 300 km/h is 186 mph.
