Innovation at Waterloo - Dr. Mark Gerges

The three armies at Waterloo differed greatly in their composition, reflecting the effects of the French Revolution on European societies. This talk examines the French, British, and Prussian armies that met 200 years ago this June, and how each dealt with or resisted the forces released by the French Revolution.
Mark Gerges is an associate professor at the US Army Command and General Staff College. He is a retired lieutenant colonel in armor, and has taught at the US Military Academy at West Point as well as CGSC. He received his Ph.D. from Florida State University where he studied in the Institute on Napoleon and the French Revolution. His research focuses on the army under the Duke of Wellington, and in particular the command and control of the cavalry arm.
