Ich hab direkt an der Elbe gearbeitet und konnte auch den BGS beobachten, aber beide Seiten führen nur bis zur Elnmitte, eial waehre die bald kollidiert

Die Grenzboote 066,075 wurden in der Schiffswerft Rechlin hergestellt. Zum Schluss des Videos sieht man die 075.

Einfach Geil

Diese Grenzboote mit 2x Volvo-Penta Motoren hatten wir auch tagtäglich auf den Gewässern zwischen West- und Ost-Berlin im Anblick. Das waren ziemliche "Raketen", die meist in Gleitfahrt unterwegs waren.

I remember seeing those boats also. I was stationed in West Berlin with the U.S. forces from 1984-1987.

Mein Vater fuhr bis 1990 Streife mit einem GSB 075. Ich durfte als 8-jähriger ein Einziges Mal mitfahren, was damals sicher höchst illegal war ;), und kann mich bis heute (inzwischen 45 Jahre alt) daran erinner. Vor allem an das umlegen der Hebel auf Vollgas und das gefühlte senkrecht Aufrichten des Buges und die Geschwindigkeit. Ein Wahnsinns-Erlebnis damals. Danke Papa!

The location of the border was disputed. The German Democratic Republic (East) claimed that the border was i the middle of the river as specified by international law. The. Federal Republic of Germany (West) didn't regard is as international border and only acknowledge the historic border of Lower Saxony, which was on the eastern bank of the Elbe.

@Yaroooo Interesting question about the course of the border on the Elbe River. It had been fixed since 1953 at the latest. The then Federal Chancellor (K. Adenauer) wrote a letter to the High Commissioners requesting information about the situation on the Elbe once and for all. He received it plainly and clearly. On May 11th, 1953, the then US High Commissioner (and later US Ambassador to the Federal Republic of Germany) James Bryant Conant - on behalf of his other counterparts - honoured the Chancellor with two letters. together with maps (scale 1:25,000), which left no doubt about the geographical centre of the Elbe as the border between East and West. Accordingly, AA (AA = Department of Foreign Affairs) official Karl Carstens* also informed the Federal Minister of Transport in 1956 upon request that the border was to be found "consistently in the middle of the river". Thus the view was that the Elbe was federal territory between river kilometre 472.6 and river kilometre 566.3 between Schnackenburg and Lauenburg, was obsolete. Since October 3rd, 1990, this question is no longer of particular relevance anyway. * - Later President of the FRG.
