Il y a des artistes que l’on recevrait volontiers mille fois, des lives rares qui font tellement de bien à l’âme & aux oreilles qu’ils méritent amplement de revenir transformer la verrière de Nova en un yard jamaïcain. Souvenez-vous, il y a quelques mois de cela, en avril dernier, le collectif Inna Di Yard, qui regroupe parmi les plus grands musiciens de la Jamaïque, ancienne & nouvelle génération, étaient venus nous offrir un moment absolument suspendu, magique, magistral, un moment à l’image du reggae qu’ils défendent un reggae à ses racines, aux valeurs humanistes, spirituelles, de liberté, d’amour et de regard sur les autres.
Mais dans le collectif, ce jour-là, il manquait un membre. Ce membre incarne l’âme de la Jamaïque, une carrière de plus de cinquante ans, une trentaine d’album, des chansons d’amour chantées comme personne, un chanteur de reggae venant du blues et qui aura fait beaucoup de bien à la soul music, une véritable légende qui a collaboré avec les plus grands de l’île, Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, John Holt, Sir Coxone, The Abyssinians et j’en passe. Mesdames & Messieurs, ce matin c’est le retour du collectif Inna Di Yard accompagné du roi des Lovers, Mr. Rocksteady : Ken Boothe !!!
À ses cotes, ce matin Winston « Bo-Pee » Bowen (guitare, basse, voix), Cedric « Congo » Myton (voix, percussions), Winston McAnuff (voix), Derajah (voix, percussions), Kush McAnuff (batterie, percussions, voix), Fonso (percussions), Kevor « Var » Williams (voix, percussions), Bubbler (clavier), Worm (basse), et Kenroy « Tallash » Fyffee et Roy Ashanti Johnson, de The Congos.
Ken Boother nous a interprété l’ouverture de ce nouvel album, le premier depuis 25ans, « Speak Softly Love », une ré-intérpration du thème du Parrain écrit par Nino Rota, et rejoué dans la plus pure tradition du reggae roots jamaïcain en live acoustique Inna di Yard à Nova. Puis, « Fisherman » par The Congos et Inna de Yard, et « Malcom X » par Winston MCAnuff & Inna Di Yard.
En concert jeudi 26 octobre au Chabada à Angers, le 27 octobre au Trianon à Paris, le 31 octobre à L’Affiche à Clermont Ferrand pour l’anniversaire de Cedric Myton.
