Inkscape for Beginners: Infinite Loop Icon

Design a vector infinite loop logo using Inkscape.
This tutorial is for Inkscape version 0.92 and is intended to teach beginners how to use the software. Inkscape is a great free alternative to Illustrator and Corel Draw.

Thank you! Is it a bug or intentional change? Edit: I got it! When you do stroke to path when the original fill was still there, the resulting path would be a group of two different paths and grouped elements cannot be unionised.

I have tried for a long time to "digest" the Inkscape videos on many different channels. Yours are the best but I can't follow along because I'm old and dense. I want to subscribe to your pay course and get a fresh start from the very beginning. Can you assure me that your "beginning" tutorials will start me out as a newborn babe? I know many of the menu commands but I lack a true understanding of what they do and why. My main objective is to be able to "import" pictures and create scroll saw patterns from them. Nothing fancy, just lines to follow with my saw. Thanks for all your hard work on these videos. They are great and I hope to someday be able to understand them.

Love your content dude. I was a total noob to logo making but thanks to you teaching me, I finally made one that I'm (somewhat) proud of. A quick question though, how do you decide the colour for your logo? I make music, and black and white looks a little bit "aggressive" for my style of music. Any tips on how to make the colours "softer" without it being washed away by album covers or such?

Great tutorial! Two things I'm wondering about: 1) I want to put some text within the top-right corner of the infinity symbol--centered, and following its arc; as if the symbol were a ribbon with text printed on it. 2) I'd like to taper the lower-left corner down to nothing; leaving an empty space for me to put something else there. Any suggestions?

Fantastic videos. I did this step by step and it works perfectly, but I can't understand the last part with the 2 trapezium figures that you combine, and then select difference from the menu. Yes, it works, I apply it, but I don't understand it. I've tried do this without applying 'union' on the 2 trapezium shapes, it doesn't work, I've also tried with other kind of shapes. Why did you choose this shape and how it came to your mind?

  • @aagamingbros

I know this is a super old tutorial but in case anyone can help. I was stuck at one point and managed to complete this by doing two steps in reverse although it doesn't look absolutely perfect. Everything goes smoothly up to the point where I lower the red layer to the bottom. Afterwards I resize the stroke and then I do stroke to path. That all works fine. Then when it comes time for me to do the union part where the red leaves the middle, it wont let me use the union button. I click and nothing happens. I've restarted and followed over and over again but every time I get the same results. It never works. I eventually realized I could do union first, then stroke to path, and get to where I need to be but then other parts went zany towards the end. SO, does anyone have any suggestions why stroke to path and then union would not work? It's 5:33 to 5:40 in the video.

  • @abrarmohammad4009

You get shadow on both the sides. Because the light falls straight on the overlap. The overlap has a certain distance from the lap below and the light right on the head of overlap gives the overlap shadow, broad. You can recreate it simply by holding pen on the table and phone light right above the pen(without angle)
