Injured Goalkeeper Makes 3 Huge Saves to Preserve Game (Team out of Subs)

Спорт

Eloy Room. The Curacao international gave the kind of performance late that could live on in club lore for a long time if the Crew mount a successful late playoff surge. Check out the injury and his three saves afterward, including the final one with what was literally the last touch of the game.

I like this take. Instead of talking the goalies performance down, because he didn't have to move much, you're pointing out, that the attackers could've taken a shot basically anywhere other than at the goalie and it would've been a goal. Great pov on the scenes!

I was in a high school game. Starting at the right wing. My coach makes three subs at half time because we were losing 1 - 2. Subbed our left back for a left winger and two midfielders for a striker and another midfielder who was better at attacking. At around 60 minutes into the game, my team's midfielder passed me the ball which forced me to need to turn back (I was running at full speed down the right and the pass was behind me). I ended up falling while rolling over my left ankle trying to turn around. No subs, and I thought I was fine, but it was probably adrenaline. I played at like 50% my max level for the rest of the game. I got an assist with a right footed cross though and we ended up winning the game in extra time after another goal by the striker that got subbed on. During extra time I was almost useless. I just played in midfield and helped progress the ball with simple passes. I could barely walk. The saddest part is that I'm left footed. Afterwards, I put some ice on it and it didn't get better. I went to the hospital and apparently I sprained it really badly. I had to get surgery as the tendon wouldn't go back into place. If I remember correctly, the doctor said it was peroneal tendon subluxation.

This is why you never use all 3 subs unless you're 100% sure you won't get an injury to a player.

One of the strikers should have swapped position with goalkeeper. Fifa allows under rules, so long as referee is informed and the change is made during a stoppage
