Takumi was only doing this because he promised a girl he'd go to the beach with her. Bored or not, he just did this for some chick (who eventually turned out to be a big sleaze).

@@lugialover09 I got the impression that Takumi didn't really care much for Natsuki despite their reconciliation. Throughout Fourth Stage, only once does he think about her, and even then, it seemed to have been a case of momentary melancholy. But at this early stage of the whole show, he wasn't even really all too keen on doing battles, because the car for him had become associated with driving uphill for the deliveries and then fooling around on the downhill... Driving, in his mind, must have been such a stupidly inane thing to do, nevermind that he did it all before first light, and nevermind that he was illegally driving without a licence 😂🤣 He only did this battle because he ended up wanting to impress a girl and his dad gave him a prerequisite for going on that journey to the beach - a prerequisite, mind, that Bunta put onto Takumi because the local hoons needed their local pride to be saved. Otherwise, he wouldn't have cared.

What I liked in this scene too is that Bunta just considers this level of racing as an equivalent of a schoolyard brawl.

That feeling when you win in races and you're very proud and then you realized that you got overtaken by some random ojiisan in popping the cherry.

Yep. This is how the anime actually looks. And it’s the most goddamn impressive animation in all of anime. This was made in the 90s back when CGI was barely even known. This whole first season is held together by tape and glue, and it still shocks me how good it looks for it’s time.

There’s not one moment in MF ghost that keeps you on edge like this episode. It’s so raw and natural with the crowd cheering through each corner, shift knob and pedal footwork audio and you can literally hear the wind pressing off the car as it speeds through.

This would be the only anime moment that I would never ever forget and would always rewatch every time I see an AE86 or see a post about an AE86 and an RX-7.

"strange, there are people at each turn" Sayuki would find that cute. So naive, he didn't know they were there to watch him race and eventually become a legend.

In your point of view, the drift actually look slow. But in reality, drifting in that tight corner with that kind of speed is really awesome.

一般的なDアニメとかで配信されてる映像（恐らくTV版と同じ）では拓海vs啓介戦のスタートや健太戦の最後などの一部シーンで講談社の音源が使われてるけど、アニメタイムズがKZreadで再配信した際に頭文字DのオリジナルのBGMや効果音に差し替えられてしました。

In MF Ghost, they called FD is classic.. then 86 is legend..

FinalStageまで見てMFG見て戻ってきた。 どちらも面白いが こっちの良さは１クールの枠に囚われてないから話が隅から隅までしっかり表現されてる。 逆に納めるMFGも演出に一切の妥協がなく凄い。 しかも映像技術の進歩がエグい CGとアニメの境界線がほぼなくなってる。 今も昔もいい時代だ

Not really. It just that he dont have the speed enough to boost up to get the first turbo worked (aka Turbo lag), let alone the second Combine that AE86's insane drifting speed through corners that allow Takumi to catch up to the FD, it made Keisuke think the second turbine doesnt work So yes, it really just Keisuke. The car is fine

No the fd was good. If takumi drive that he feels like flying saucer like Bunta's imp. Keisuke was not on takumi's level yet

This was such a simple bit of story telling and although it looks like trash, you care about the characters and can overlook the quality of the animation which looking like some kid's high-school project.
