The most beautiful face that ever lit up the silver screen. In fact, the screen wasn't really silver until she graced it. She was also an actress of immense talent. No one can surpass her.

Her face is aglow! 'It is a true gift you have to bring out love, more than loving itself', said her good friend Ann Todd about her. And that is exactly what Ingrid did and does: she passes on a current of love and every full-blooded spectator can feel this glow and flow when watching her. Unique indeed!

Why did you cut it and edit it? I saw the entire thing in a documentary and it's only 4 minutes long or so. And with no cuts, you see her gradually change facial expressions from one to the other, so naturally and beautifully. With the cuts, that is lost.

There is such a difference between Ingrid Bergman and Greta Garbo, another Swede. Greta Garbo's acting style from silent to early talkies is really not very watchable today. She came across as stiff, wooden, campy sometimes, haughty, aloof. It was likes we in the audience were not good enough for her, that we were beneath her. She became a recluse for real when her acting ended. Ingrid Bergman on the other hand was modern and still watchable today. She was kind, caring, considerate of others, she cared about the job she was doing. It showed in the work and the audience loved her. She was loved among her co stars. The audience had a genuine kind of feelings towards her. Compare Miss Bergman to Bette Davis or Katharine Hepburn whom people either loved or people who bad mouthed, hated or even despised them.

Ingrid was a very beautiful woman both from the outside and more inportantly, the inside too. What joy she has given through her films and thus lives on in a world that desperately needs her back again.

From her biography, she was the type to blush very easily and Mr. Selznick wanted to test that on camera. She later said in an interview that she did blush to an extreme level that day because all the lighting in the studio was very hot. What a classy lady, and no doubt, one of the most beautiful person who has ever graced this world. I'm very much thankful for all the work she had left behind.

The world has always been in pain. A woman of today is perfectly capable of looking innocent and beautiful. The 1930s and 40s were plagued by the worldwide depression and World War II. those times are not often what they seem, Ingrid Bergman, I've read was criticized by her father, who thought she wasn't good looking enough to make it in Hollywood

This difference is we have media these days, where every single terrible thing that happens in the world is shoved in our faces. So despite the hardships they faced then, I still think we carry more burden today.

why the hell should women look innocent anyway? movies are escape, exactly because of the depression going on at the time, they made movies that were glamorous and cast actresses that were beautiful and looked blissfully sweet and innocent.

of course they had media back then, radio was invented around the late 1800s. and there was always newspapers. fact is, a lot of things have also gotten better, like medicine has improved. nothing is that simple. some things are better, some are worse. WWII was one of the worst times in human history, and today, the internet is both a blessing and a giant burden on the shoulders of society. What I'm really trying to say, is that you're only thinking on the surface, what you see in movies, etc

  • @procrastinator300

(cont from last comment) but society was never "innocent." I used to think that the 1920s was a happy time, everyone just went out and partied and did the charleston in speakeasies. but there was a dark underworld to the 20s too. if you haven't, you should read the Great Gatsby, it's considered the greatest representation of the 1920s. the charleston's only on the surface, underneath you've got prohibition and the likes of al capone. and that's just one example

@Caitlin232323 No pain in the world? It was worse in the 30's then it is today because of the Depression with everybody out of work, no place to live and standing in line for food. In the 40's there was WW2. Pearl Harbor was bombed by the Japanese and Europe had Hitler. No, we have it better today.
