Ingenious way to redo surround a on speaker: Acoustic Research AR5: The ugliest speakers ever made!

Ғылым және технология

I show some ingenious tricks for redoing the surround on vintage woofers here from some vintage 1970 AR5 speakers in desperate need of new surrounds. These speakers sound fantastic, but look extremely ugly with the grills off!!
Here are the small 0.25" x 0.063" Neodymium magnets & surround kit:

Thanks... I think it's important to run the speaker pretty hard too while the glue is setting to make sure the voice coil isn't scraping. I haven't seen anyone else do that either.

The magnet trick is fascinating. I'm still trying to understand how it works.

I got them at K&J Magnetics (kjmagnetics.com/), but you can get them on Amazon.

You used rubber surrounds and destroyed the original bass response.
