I appreciate that these videos show not only products that are actually available, but also gives pricing. So many of these tech channels take pie in the sky concept ideas, and present them as actual products, or showcase products that cost millions/ are only available to people like NASA

There is a lot of prevention of injuries in the design of these machines. The industry has to be profitable to afford them. Some of the car jack products might be in the range of the shade tree hobbyist mechanic. Overall an enlightening and impressive video.

If you have a car that’s less than ten years old, then setting-up a home shop isn’t a very good idea. There are so many specialized tools, and computer-codes that it would take you four times as long as a professional to make the same repair . Those Snap-On mechanics have twenty thousand dollars worth of tools. Or more. It’s funny, but there isn’t a website that categorizes repairs. For example if your water pump fails, you shouldn’t have to call five different shops looking for a price. There should be a website that shows the average cost of the common repairs for each car. That way, customers can tell at a glance how much it would cost. But if Ford repair prices were categorically listed, then nobody would buy a Ford. So we live in world of enforced ignorance. Those sheister Ford dealers will innocently claim that they don’t know the cost of a repair.

I find buying my parts from Ford are cheaper than getting them from some random parts shop. This was started in full force by the Saturn car company (may the rest in peace). My Saturn was great for my college years and I could get parts for it cheapest from Saturn. Ford on the other hand are crooked as the day is long. I should know since I have and fusion energi. Yeah not happy with Ford.

I have been fixing my own cars for a few years …again, I used to fix them but when I was at my old job I had a company car so I stopped making repairs but thanks to Covid that’s no longer the case so no that I had to buy my own car I got two used ones that when they break , I look up repair videos here on KZread and if it seems like something I can do, I do it! It’s frustrating sometimes and does take me longer than a garage but the money I save as well as the bs of dropping the car off, then having to get a ride to pick it up blaaah blaaah… and the fact that I can do the repairs myself is very rewarding and you’d be surprised how that feeling makes you actually feel good about the rest of the things in your life like, I recently fixed my old wood stove so it works like brand new now, cleaned my own chimney, fixed the cam shaft on my craftsman lawn tractor… I am a fix it god now….lol
