    That bit about nerual structure and gender being linked... If only they had an available and simple way of testing people to help clarify things. It would make my life so much simpler right about now and it would be a flawless way of showing parents or friends without having to convince people over and ovee that you're not being irrational or stupid for wanting to transition

    I personally made the decision NOT to bank any sperm because for me, it was a very uncomfortable thought. Feeling like a woman and transitioning knowing I had a kid from sperm (and not an egg) felt just too uncomfortable and masculine to me, which I don't identify with whatsoever. That's just me, though. Every trans woman is different.

    Alexis, thank you for being the most helpful, most knowledgeable counselor I have had in over 25 years. I was tired of dealing with "professionals" who didn't know as much about gender dysphoria as I did, who were basically looking for me to pay them to learn how to help me. You have put the time in the classroom to learn about this stuff and have the credentials to prove it. I'm glad that I found your videos and made the decision to work with you on my gender issues. You have the ability to do what so many "traditional" therapists never did - you actually make us think, and question, and begin to understand ourselves in ways that we never had before. Thanks for being here for us.

    Joanne Higgins Yes, thank you so very much. I feel that I am transgender mtf. I have never liked having to choose male/ female on forms and such, probably sounds lame but it's true. I always felt both but predominantly female. Wow did someone ask a question or something? Just wish I could find a way to be accepted as my self.

    Thank you so much for this information. I found a doctor who was open minded in my small southern town but he fully admitted he was kind of "flying blind." We originally started with pills but after I showed him my research on HRT, we switched to injections. So much better and from what I have read, injections are easier on your body. Just follow the guidelines to injecting yourself safely and you will be OK. I used to set up a mirror and pretend I was injecting a friend. Helped me, but then again I am terrified of needles.

    Just saying thank you for the encouragement and assistance to put aside the "excuses." I am choosing the slow route ... got my ears pierced (2 weeks ago), purchased an epilator and started hair removal on my legs (last week) -- ouch, created a dedicated email for my new life, and after a week of solid research, ordered over the counter pills (this week) that will arrive next week. Basically, I like your approach to transitioning -- taking in both emotional and logical decision making path. In truth, deep inside, I am a girl who likes to dance, ice skate, cook and other artistic things. Again, thank you for the encouragement. Oh, one suggestion, if you are trying to epilate your legs, what I did was shave first and then wait a half a day (for a little hair growth) and then epilate later in the evening. Shaving first reduces hair length and then later in the evening less hairs have resurfaced and the epilator gets them. Now on the second week of epilating, it is getting less painful. I am glad to be able to start sharing the "inner" beauty ...

    HRT implants or pellet implants are very popular in Australia. While they require a Doctor or nurse to implant the pellet, the procedure is painless fairly cost effective and an efficient and safe method of E delivery. Not only is this convenient, it also bypasses the liver and removes the opportunity or temptation to vary doses without prior discussion with your endocrinologist.

    I know I am posting late, but the comment "Stopping testosterone and bearing a child has a higher risk of developing autism." I guess this is handy knowledge, but I am on the autism spectrum and I love who I am, despite the fact that autism can suck sometimes and be very distracting. BUT I would not change who I am, and I am glad I have autism because I just don't dance to the rhythm of the world beat. It makes me unique in so many ways, and being "neurotypically normal" in my opinions sounds very boring :-) I only mention this because the context this statement was given sounded negative, like "You should avoid having autistic children." But I do realize that might not have been your intention :-) Anyway I LOVE YOUR VIDEOS and I am learning SOOOO much!

    Kerry... 1. She did not say that autism was caused by having transgender parents. She said that studies show that there is a link between FTM people who come off of hormones to become pregnant with autistic children. This may not be a direct correlation, and even if it is, autism could be caused by more than one thing. 2. What would you classify autism as? It is not something that you should be ashamed of, but it is definitely not something that I think anyone would wish on their child. Would you? She is simply sharing facts for transgender people who may want a child later in life.

  • @cacatr4495

    @cacatr4495

    6 жыл бұрын

    Adam Campos I understood what was said there in the video as being, the possible effects of the Ftm-parent's cross-hormones (which would be exogenous testosterone) on her ovum (egg), on the development of her child in her womb, potentiating a chance that the child might be somewhere on the autism spectrum. My biologically female parent continued on testosterone until learning she was pregnant with me, likely the first 5-6 weeks of my developmental life in her womb. It is my experience that cross-hormones are very dangerous in many ways. In addition to the DNA effects to bone and cell development, hormones shape the mind and the attitudes with it. There have been medical effects (problems) also. What we originally are in the womb needs to be respected and not assigned the opposite by our parents.

    I must take issue with how you describe the effects of hormones: they're effects are rather limited, especially if the subject is older, particularly with regard to the face. Facial hair growth is virtually unaffected, body hair growth is slowed and becomes finer, but will remain faster and coarser than a typical cis female, male pattern hair loss may continue to progress, albeit at a slower pace, facial fat redistribution is subtle at best and if the skull is very sculpted by testosterone on an older trans woman, the effect is negligible, the person will be liable to be seen as a man in feminine clothing. Breast development can be so limited that they don't fill a standard bra size, body fat redistribution may be so slight, it doesn't ease dysphoria, at all in that respect, either, it is a lottery. What about hairline correction surgery, facial feminisation surgery, voice surgery, breast augmentation surgery, hip/thigh silicone injections and last, but not least genital surgery? Any or all of these may be required to achieve a successful transition, it is an extremely gruelling and prohibitively expensive process for most, not to mention the emotional upheaval and distress they can cause as they play havoc with your moods and self esteem. You make it sound like hormones are the elixir of happiness. They are not.

    It's important to say that for mtof transgender patients, hormones will impact fertility but lowering sperm counts and can make you impotent, but it doesn't make you infertile. Jamie, did you see my other reply to you here this afternoon, about an hour ago, in **RAND** 's comment-thread? I've read that the pill-version can be more highly recommended than the injection-version, due to a difference in the stability of hormone levels in the blood, and at your age, you might continue to be very impressed at your progression-rate. Not to worry, you're well on your way, and your love for the truth is laudable. I share your joy! There's NOTHING like the truth; it's amazing!! :). To you both, Much Love! God works only in the truth, not by lies. He creates precious children as He chose, with a plan for their lives. Parents have falsely assigned their children against His design. What they assigned wasn't the truth, but was a lie. We are called to live the truth of who God made us, not to live the lie of our parents' false assignment. There is Real Joy in the truth, and big Joy in living the truth. We are to live the truth, not condemn it. When parents love God 's truth, they don't condemn it, they celebrate it and they live it! I send big hugs to both of you, and I share your love for the truth. Awesome! You aren't alone, you are precious and you are Loved by the One Who made you in the truth. Support to you both to persevere in the truth!

    I am not sure abt that one "is the gender you feel"? Some trans just want to be female and have body dysphoria... Such a desire is just as much trans as those who feel they are trapped in the wrong body..

    Hello this Alyus, I am Alexis' assistant. I am sorry but Alexis does not work with minors. However, you can look for resources in your community with the links below. www.impactprogram.org/lgbtq-youth/transgender-101/#sthash.Eq2eBilv.dpbs I would suggest that you search for a PFLAG in your community. www.pflag.org/ Another option would be to look for a local university and find out if they have a pride center or an LGBT center. Here are some other options to get online support: www.reddit.com/r/asktransgender www.lauras-playground.com/ www.susans.org/ Here is a website that may be able to direct you to doctors in your area. www.glma.org/index.cfm?fuseaction=Page.viewPage&pageId=939&grandparentID=534&parentID=938&nodeID=1 This is a good place to start with ongoing support. You will likely connect with people your age, make some friends and mentors. I am sorry, but laws prevent Alexis from working with anyone who is a minor with out the permission of parents so this is all I can really do for you.

    how can a trans. have children

  • @TheTransitionChannel

    @TheTransitionChannel

    7 жыл бұрын

    The word trans or transgender is an adjective, not a noun. For example "Alexis is a smart person." the incorrect version of that sentence would be "Alexis is a smart." To answer your question about how a Transgender person can have children, the answer is, Just like any other person who wants to have children. They either have sex, IVF, find a surrogate, or adoption. Thank you for the question.
