What beautiful, fun cards! ❤ If someone is concerned about the embellishments that hang over the edge of the card getting bent in the mail, try slipping a piece of cardstock the same size as the envelope in with the card. 😊 The same tip will work for a shaped card, to keep the envelope from bending and getting caught in the post office machinery. 🥰.

I like the "score first" tip - saves getting out the big cutter plus I find I get fewer cards that don't end up folding evenly. For square cards in rectangular envelopes, I like to put in a piece of inexpensive card stock that is the full size of the envelope when mailing - it avoids having part of the envelope being floppy, and can protect your card elements too.

Very good idea for mailing square cards, I think using a rectangular envelope with your method might save me some postage here in Germany, too! Thank you for that. I've been using the score first method for some time for the standard DIN size comparable to an A2, the one called DIN A6. It is also a full sheet divided by 2. When having to cut a US A2 card from a DIN A4 sheet, I do it differently. I first cut the width, then score in the middle, then cut the folded card to its finished size. Because you can't fit 2 US A2 cards in one sheet of DIN A4. This is more of a tip for people using DIN sized paper.

I'm so happy to see you demonstrating A6 and A7 card sizes! Those are my go to sizes for 99% of my cards; I rarely make A2 cards anymore. For those that want top fold A7 cards, I usually just turn the already made A7 card base a quarter turn, which puts the fold at the top, and makes it a 7" x 5" card...same difference!

At a garage sale I bought a box of what looked like A2 envelopes, but they’re slightly smaller (5-bar). I’ve figured out a card measurement - 3&7/8 x 5&1/8 - and which of my nesting panel and cover plate dies will work. Can’t wait to start adapting my favorite card designs to this new size!

I was thinking too, you could use some actual embroidery thread through the die cut needle instead of the die cut thread if you wanted - to match the thread color exactly, if you wanted. Fabulous video, Jennifer; thank you so much for sharing.

You can also make Rocker Cards with round or oval dies. I wish I could afford to subscribe to the Spellbinders subscriptions, but it's not possible right now. I LOVE their large embossing folders & they can be used for non-card items such as decorative household elements and wall hangings. I hope they start doing more Becka Feeken items also cause I love her dies.

I suspect A6 cards are popular where metric measurements are used. It's the A2 size (American A2, one-fourth of 8.5x11) equivalent. It is also one-half of A5 and one-quarter of A4 (8.3x11.7 inches) size cards. Like the A2 which you get when cutting 8.5x11 yardstick into halves, there are no leftovers when one cuts a metric A4 into half to get A6. I rarely make A2 cards because not being in the US, all the available envelopes for sale are for A6 or A7 cards.

  • @candyclouston1412

I think emphasizing these are US sizes would be helpful. In the US, A6 is not consistent (probably because it's derivative of the metric A6 card).

Great video, Jennifer! I make all my cards the A6 size. I use Hamilco 100 lb cardstock in 12 X 12. I trim it at 9", then cut at 6". Then I score the two pieces that are 9" X 6" at 4 1/ 2". So my card is 4 1/2 X 6. There is a 3" X 12" piece that isn't used, but I save those pieces for die cutting. I love this size and the 5 X 7 size

Great videos as always and great card sizes to use, I think. 😃 Just to avoid any confusion for european viewers: these A-sizes do not correspond to the european A-measurement of papers. In Europe A2, for example, is 16.1/2” x 23.3/8”. 😅 And then A3 is the A2 folded in half, and A4 is A3 folded in half, and so on. 😊

Thanks for the info on the A6 card. I think that is the size they use in Australia. and I have been curious about it because I love Paper Roses dies and papers, and they are designed for that. Your cards are gorgeous, I can't wait until my large die set arrives!

I like scoring and folding my A7 cards and then cut. It seems that it isn't always square so this way I can cut it to size with all the end even.

I tend not to score first because I use cheap cardstock and the measurements are often a hair off. Scoring first seems to amplify any unevenness.

Very helpful, here in the UK A6 is quite a common card size, though slightly different measurements - a little smaller I think, though I find I’m using 5x7 more than I used to as it works well with dies designed for A2 which are not as common here. Great cards!

I loved everything about this video. Your cards are beautiful. I'm really looking forward to playing with all of these dies. I do have what feels like a dumb question but it's something I struggle with. I love ovals...but I don't feel like I ever get them straight... do you have any tips?
