@@DeltaPi314, Because a lot of us joined social media as young children, we didn't know the consequences until it was too late. While we are responsible for downloading social media, it is never OK to blame someone for being cyberbullied or feeling self-conscious about their body. The male and female beauty standard is literally propaganda; everywhere and inescapable, so the victims are not responsible for being affected by it. Everyone reacts to those ideals differently.
social medias role in over consumption summed up in 2 and half minutes, I love this
A lot of people are seeing how the film relates to overconsumption but I think it’s also a good representation of the stripping of individuality when it comes to tailoring our tastes (which is a form of self expression) to trends (which, most are short lived) rather than our own values, experiences, and communal subcultures as a part of our identity being well rounded individuals, not just dolls on a phone screen or poster.

Love the title. Not an influencer, but influenced.
I used to be a pornstar and social media influencer and now in recovery. I'm just making art analogue now, supporting my local community and trying to rehabilitating myself back into the "real world" it's crazy how it feels like you are sucked into another world. I am still on a path of recovery. The rise and fall of fame is not at all good for everyones mental health. This short film really captures the feeling of being sucked in.

everyone saying that it looks like vewn and its kinda true, Its good have inspiration in other artist but if you copy someone's entire style people will only remember you for doing the things like them, its better to build your own style and way to do your things, even so, I think this person still a student, i guess they still experimenting
Minus the canceling bit, I've gone through this exact cycle twice. My AuDHD make having a regular part-time so difficult, I did a ton of research of x work online. Then hyperfixate on the cute new clothes I'm going to need, buy a bunch of stuff for lighting and recording, realize you can't post the same few outfits over and over, look for more outfits, think about how much I'm spending vs making, and eventually burnout. Repeat.

@@NightTimeDay What a large assumption to make about someone you've never met. Even if they did use an unprofessional term, that is of no matter to you. Feel free to move on and not leap upon random people that never asked for your rude words.
Not only does this feel like an indie student film from 2017-18, but it has a powerful, timeless message to go along with it. A message that hits close to home and is so urgent in a world more concerned with competition than self-expression. In high school, I was so concerned with trends that I often dug through my dad's wardrobe to find the "correct" drip. Now I pay for my own fashion and stay true to my own style based on my personal interests. I wouldn't have 2 Joy Division tees if I was too focused on staying "on trend." With that said, congrats on your first major motion picture, Soph! I can see that Vewn has played a role in your growth as an animator.
Icon. You followed the principle of “show, don’t tell” very adeptly. I expect great things from you in the future. You could even go more surreal/trippy with it if you wanted to. Gunshot was very effective and caught me off guard.
How has this no blown up yet?? The animation and the message are soo good

I think it’s less about being an influencer and more about getting addicted to the attention. You want people to compliment you and give you likes, so you get influenced by people who already have that. Then when YOU have it, it becomes a vicious cycle.
i’m obsessed with the art style sm, i think it really fits the theme. also this is the real message of consumerism, that it’s a scary monster 😭
The way you draw the hands the text font, and the scrabble emotion in the end reminds me of Vewn so bad and i LOVE it! ✨

I love this Soph! :) Keep going with your work!!
The story itself is alright, but i think it’s rather weird that the style looks so vewn-like. Same colors, same lineart technique, the trembling animation, the use of broken perspectives, even the intonation in voice dub is similar. And of course, a lot of text is used in scenes, this is what vewn often uses for storytelling. all of the listed similarities are normal individually, since we are always inspired by other artists before creating our own film. but when there are so many similarities in a row in one film, to me, it looks like a lack of originality, or even plagiarism. but despite this, I think the author has great potential, and I wish them to develop their own comfortable style, which will be recognizable by their name. anyways, great job
