INFJs are one of the most logical type out there.

As an INTP, I'm surprised by how similar & complementary both types can be, although I think the connection is especially strong when the INTP is male and the INFJ is female!

Creepy INTP stare going on when INFJ is talking 😆 I know this because my INTP does this. My INTP will also say that I provide the direction (as an INFJ) and he will make sure we are doing it right... it’s very methodical but it takes a lot for me to push him to move in life. And we laugh so much!!

In essence, INFJ's we love to control ourselves to the point psychologically hurt our sanity for some personal value like our integrity. it is extremely masochistic cuz its a recipe for future mental breakdowns only because we are never satisfied with ourselves no matter what we do. usually, when that happens I tend to sleep or watch the kissing booth or some twilight reaction video cuz sometimes a bit of absurdity is good for the heart.

Very interesting. I am an INFJ but grew up in a large family of thinkers so I'm able to shift gears.

Letting a conversation flow naturally is what I like most about the INTP-INFJ combo; There's something about this pairing that makes conversation feel both very smooth and very natural, without it becoming shallow...

I won't say that im illogical in fact i can be fierce in arguments and i can form my thoughts pretty well , but when it comes to making decisions on the spot i always go with my emotions , it's like I need more concentration to work with Ti but Fe is the default for me , i only see my self using Ti by default is when im by myself or around people i know , other than that im usually using the combo of Ni-Fe trying to figure out situations and people !

wish I could hear them better as its good info. I'm a INFJ and this was so helpful as it was after I found purpose that I really became more aware of myself, like my purpose started to mirror my essence and allowed me to live as my authentic self w/ helping others to heal. Thank you for the insight!

I think there was a bit of misunderstanding about how Se works by the INFJ. It works more as a gathering function for the Ni. It’s about the sensory, the here and now...it takes in many concrete details from the physical world about how things look and smell and feel and sound and Ni synthesizes an overall impression of an object or person or situation based on existing, usually disparate seeming schema for a concept or idea, Ti checks the conclusions reached about that thing for logical consistency and Fe discerns how that impression or conclusion about that thing might affect others for good or for bad....in very simple terms. And when we focus too much on Se, we become indulgent and engage maybe too much in physical/sensory stimulation... substances, experiences, television, music, sex, food. It’s less about emotion and more of a concrete gathering function pertaining to our senses.

Yeah. True. It does cross over into emotion though. And defending on environmental pressures that effect psychological development and levels of integration, there is a spectrum to it that can be quite wide. So your point, while perfectly accurate and correct, is not supreme or ultimate nor entirely encompassing.

Any INTPs...help please! On the topic of how others respond or feel, in reverse, I am needing to know how an INTP would respond or feel. I need to know how an INTP would feel if his crush told him he was an INTP... I am an INFJ and pretty deeply smitten with an I NTP at work - we are servers at a restaurant. He has been trying for six months to flirt with me in his adorable/awkward INTP way. It’s basically like watching a scientist investigate an alien. We don’t have much conversation he just pokes me, steals my stuff, and the tell-tale intense staring - usually straight into my eyes for very extended periods of time. The other day he stood in front of me, looked into my eyes and “pet“ my arm. Then said, “I just wanted to know how you would react.” He also managed to muster up a compliment and tell me he loves my dimples. All that said, I’m scared to take it any further. I try with everything in me to push my feelings down and not reciprocate. I withhold opening up or divulging anything deep about myself and he asked why I’m so quiet. He’s trying to “study me” and I won’t let him in. I figure the kindest thing I could do was help him lose interest and move on. As an INFJ his “informative” tone constantly hurts my feelings and I have to keep reminding myself that’s just his INTP nature, not personal. However, I’m beyond terrified that I won’t be able to handle it as gracefully if I open up to him. I know he has the power to obliterate my heart. I care about him a lot and I think he would benefit so much from understanding that he is an INTP, but I’m afraid he will 1) think I’m stupid or 2) feel completely exposed.

First of all, I want to point out that it would be very difficult for you (an INFJ) to make an INTP uncomfortable. The fact that you are writing this makes me think that you will probably be able to let him down quite gracefully or comfortably. To your question though: Just make sure it is in private and remains private if you are to let him down. The fastest way to make an INTP angry is to make him embarrassed (We are quite sensitive to this). Also the easiest way to make sure his informative tone does not hurt your feelings is just to tell him. He probably does not realize that he is making other people feel bad. All in all though im not sure any other advice on how to let him down easy except to make sure its not embarrassing and to make sure that that doesnt mean you dont want to be around him or anything like that. If you want to get him interested in MBTI, the best way would be to point out that you understand one of his quirks. Ultimately INTPs do want to be understood because they are used to be misunderstood. You can do this in an un-intrusive way. This alone will probably interest him and how you knew that about him. Thats when you can tell him how you figured it out and understand yourself better because of MBTI. Aside from that INTPs are very intellectually competitive so he will want to understand MBTI like you if he is interested. Hope this helped! Good luck!

Riley Dunn thanks so much for the reply! That is actually really helpful. I would never embarrass him in general, but good to know that is a sensitive area. I think my child Ti thought it would be fine to just sort of innocently blurt out this information because it is coming from a sincere place, but I think being way more discreet about it is far better!

You guys need to talk more. Direct & open communication is the way for an INTP to open up the INFJ's heart. And you may need a few dozen hours of this type of communication until you feel comfortable opening up to him. So, go on a date or start chatting online until you develop what I'd call an "intellectual connection"... by which I don't mean you should only talk about philosophy or science and shit, but basically share your most random ideas and feelings with each other in an emotionally neutral, but friendly manner. I'm an INTP, by the way. And I just had my first date with an INFJ after talking for 5 hours per chat for about 4 or 5 chats (I think). So I speak from experience, as it is through these open, direct and open-ended talks that she opened up heart heart and gave me the privilege of letting me in.

I love how he wasn’t like « I love … because they are nice etc » he was « I love …. Because they are so useful to me, because they can help me », it’s so funny cause it shows perfectly the INFJ paradox (deeply selfless but also kinda selfish)
