For the lamp, if you had cut it in half and pressed it right up against the mirror, you could have doubled the depth effect by making the lamp appear to repeat half as often.

  • @kornfed81

The light was the only thing I disliked...so half a light mounted against the mirror at the bottom would create half the repetition?

  • @diggoran

@@kornfed81 Yes, exactly. Though he would of course have half the space to fit a bulb inside, so the electronics would probably need to be modified too.

there would still be a noticable borderline cutting across the lamp, you can kinda see the 'sections' where the mirror starts in the video with the different shades. to ease the gap we could install the lamp horizontally.

@@bi_zha Take the cage bit from the discarded half, maybe sand it down a bit and throw it where it touches the glass. Might be able to hide the seam by pretending it is part of the fixture.

you need this in the corner of the room with one level with the floor, and another one in the ceiling, with a ladder on the wall in-between the two. That way it looks like a infinite shaft going up and down that you can access!

Very creative, I just purchased an LED Infinity coffee table which brought me here seeking inspiration for what’s possible, or what others have done within this type of illusionary aspect to everyday furniture through modern concepts and contemporary design. As ever I am continually blown away by how hobbyists and practitioners of a certain craft push the domain past that of what is mass produced by corporate outfits, even making the process seem oddly achievable for the rest of us despite the obvious, or before that little contentious voice reminds us that the last time we faced a woodwork project was decades ago in middle school, with mixed results! Inspiring all the same which is what’s most important and optimal notwithstanding optimistic, and so I appreciate the sharing of your craftsmanship and project should you see this. Many thanks from an infinite novice in woodwork with grandiose ideas.
