Covid has devastated hospitals here but not because of cases. Recently took my mother to emergency for non Covid related reason. 56 hours in triage before a room available. Finally a room with staff shortages, no cups, no disposable bed pans, shortage/waiting for medications, lack of blankets, waiting for tests. Over extended staff, security diffusing situations. Our health care collapsing. This is Canada.

Thank you again Dr. Campbell. I’m an American and I’ve lost all faith in the CDC. In fact, I’ve pretty much lost faith in most governments in the United States. That goes for national, state, county and local. I am actually 60 y/o a C 5-6 quadriplegic from a spinal cord injury(44) years ago. In my own life I have decided to use wisdom but I cannot continue to live in fear upon fear in life. If fear had ruled my life I would’ve never left my parent’s house. Thankfully my personal doctor is not a “guideline“ practitioner. He does a lot of his own research and reads study upon study. He is the first person I trust for solid information. After that comes my own eyes and ears and gut feeling. Our societies will not be functional if we continue these unreasonable and mostly useless dictates from our governments. In my opinion it is time to be sensible but also get on with life! Again, thank you.

Brave heart. I agree with what you say, get on with life. With age comes wisdom, something the young refuse to understand with this modern thinking. What worries me is our lack of trust in our Governments, you see we have a choice, we don’t trust them we kick them out and bring in another. But Putin controls Russians so he isn’t going to be kicked out and that gives him tremendous power. That’s what worries me. Our democratic life is at sever risk right now so , good or bad, I think we have to support our Governments until the world becomes reasonably safe again.

I just had my first covid infection. Tested positive July 1. Unvaccinated, healthy, 36/m. It was worse than I expected the first 4-5 days. Fever, chills, racing heart, headache. Flu-ish. Then those symptoms simply left around day 5 and I was left with a cough and congestion, chest tightness. I'm now 11 days out from the first day of symptoms, and I still have a lingering cough/congestion but it's way better than it was 5 or so days ago. My energy has returned to about 90%. Anyway, sharing this here because I think a lot of thoughtful and open-minded people follow Dr. Campbell. And I may be one of the rare examples of someone infected by one of these new variants who had no prior vaccination or infection. I'm excited to finally have some antibodies/adaptive immunity to this virus, but of course this study about repeated infections causing more severe long covid and all-cause mortality is making me a bit nervous. Always thought reinfections would be inherently more mild because of the adaptive immune system having a beat on it.

My brother recently got it as well. He's 2x vaccinated, like me...and he said that for him the first two days were okay and then days 3 and 4 were horrible. He said that he could only recall being sicker than this once in his life during a bout of bronchitis as a teenager. His temperature spiked at 105. And then it simply left. Day five he felt much better and then after the 5th day, nothing. Completely normal. I also talked to a friend who recently got it and she said it was "like a 6 day cold. Not bad at all, just congestion. Not even any fever." It's just odd to me how it really depends on how this thing affects you. I still don't have it after 2 years, and I really don't want it because I have immune system issues. I take an immunosuppressant, So getting sick at all is a big deal.... So I'm really really trying to avoid Covid at all costs.

There is a cancer death in UK every 4 minutes . Heart attack- It was also the leading cause of death worldwide in 2019. CHD is responsible for around 64,000 deaths in the UK each year, an average of 175 people each day, or one death around every eight minutes. In the UK, one in eight men and one in 15 women die from coronary heart disease. Diabetes- taking the estimated prevalence of diabetes in England, it was estimated that the total annual number of deaths of people with diabetes was between 70,000 and 75,000. This represents about 15-16% of the 460,000 deaths that occur annually in England. Smoking - Every year around 78,000 people in the UK die from smoking, with many more living with debilitating smoking-related illnesses. Smoking increases your risk of developing more than 50 serious health conditions. Some may be fatal, and others can cause irreversible long-term damage to your health.. Strokes- Stroke is the fourth single leading cause of death in the UK, responsible for 35,000 deaths annually. That's a life lost every 17 minutes. Let’s get things into perspective here - it’s all been hijacked !

*Rhetorical question:* How can there be a "BA.5" if virologists never isolated (meaning separated out) a "virus" from anyone in the first place? If you understand virologist's CLAIMED definition of "isolation", you'd know that they apply a sick person's clinical sample to a cell culture and then look for certain effects to occur. That is not what anyone outside of virology would call "isolation" of microscopic objects. Yet, people read the headline of some paper or article that claims so and so was "isolated". *Here's the problem. Historically:* They ASSUME "viruses" to already exist, without proving it first. They ASSUME a "virus" to be the cause of the cell culture breakdown in their experiments. They ASSUME that particles they take pictures of are "virus particles". They ASSUME the reason they can't find viruses directly in human clinical samples is because "there are not enough viruses to find". They ASSUME all that and so much more without EVER putting their "virus" Hypothesis through The Scientific Method. They don't even bother to use proper scientific controls in their experiments! Former virologists like Dr. Stefan Lanka have been correctly calling this out for decades. And he's not alone. Dr. Sam Bailey, Dr. Mark Bailey, Dr. Andrew Kaufman, Dr. Tom Cowan, Dr. Jordan Grant and many many others have spoken repeatedly on this as well. No one can refute (with valid evidence) what they're saying. Yet people are still being fed these "virus" stories and believe it without any understanding or questioning of the source material.

None were severe, none hospitalized, no deaths. I’m guessing that 75% of us are over 65 and some are overweight. Most if not all have been vaccinated and I promote supplemental Vitamin D. Hey DENNIS, just a cautionary tale. Before taking/supplementing your vitamin D. I would suggest taking a vitamin D test for 30 bucks. Since people absorb vitamin D differently, different types/sources can impact how one’s body absorbs vitamin D. Technically speaking, if you are 50 ng/L or lower, you have a serious vitamin D deficiency. Although you can take vitamin D, it can take months to influence your vitamin D levels in your blood. I just don’t want people to have a false sense of security once they start taking vitamin D although, you can’t argue against the placebo effect.

Take the time to get a college science degree and then I will respect your opinion on the topic. There are problems with the Vaccine, but this is not one of them. It has to do with the viral dynamics and the effects the actual viral infection has on the body long term. I don't let people tell me how to build bridges because that is what I am trained to do. When arm chair warriors try to tell me how it is, I tell them to shut the hell up. I don't have time to argue with children.

Great video, John. To me, it makes intuitive sense that repeat infections will cumulatively increase one’s risk of complications (i.e., stroke and related outcomes), albeit small for most people. I would expect this to express itself in the excess death date since most would be past their infection period when those downstream complications manifest. It wouldn’t make sense for repeated infection to decrease those risks now that we understand the interplay between COVID and cardiovascular health. Thoughts?

@@HappyBagger No, you're conflating mildness and transmissibility. If disease is milder *and* at least as transmissible (resulting in => prevalence, then incidentals will be higher. Absent information on mildness, best to assume roughly equal to previous wave. As to whether BA.5 milder or not, the evidence is mixed. So much so that it is safe to assume it is roughly equal. Also, the classification into with/for is itself somewhat arbitrary, but so as long as the scheme used to carry out the classification is unchanged it remains somewhat useful.
