Might want to check Miramar’s issue point they give the pack to you unassembled. From the beginning of this video I knew I was going to hate my life when he said “it should already be assembled”
Crap that makes me feel really old. All we had was our 782 gear that dated back to Korea and some back to WW II. I was out of the Marine Corps before elements of the ALICE gear started to appear. Okay, old Marine guy time -- bunch of slackers needing things like a frame to carry their gear. I have become such an old salt that I can remember when Christ was a corporal. Semper fi y'all.

Christ was then, and always has been King. and frames keep the Marines back servicable and ready fpr battle and also keeps you ready for the 1st civ div when you do eventually E.A.S. we're you even a grunt? only guys who use the pack as seen in this video are Grunt's Recon, Marine raiders {heard of them?} Artillery L.A.R., or amtrackers perhaps Anglico and a few other units. but most air wingers or motor "T" Marines will rarely use their pack as seen here. that doesnt make em any less of a Marine. anyone who earned the title is a U.S. Marine and thats good enough to be deployed and do your job in peace time or war time. a Marine is a Marine regardless of when he joins. just serve with Honor.

As a civilian who needed to set his surplus FILBE up for non-manlet heights - i appreciate this video. As that same civilian who watched it, forgot entirely about sizing it and had to come back to relearn everything - i feel i might of made a decent crayon eater.
This video was absolutely technical and practically efficient overall. With the new ergonomics I learned I plan to share this with my guys.
I started in the Marine Corps with the ALICE pack.. ended with the FILBE pack.. every old man saying the Alice pack was the best is the reason they're going to the VA for knee and back pain..
My son claims he is now a professional Tetris player after 4 years of this. lol
These are exactly what they use at boot camp now, I've never touched the predecessor but this pack has a lot of points of contact. Hip, shoulders, and sternum. As long as your gear is packed tight and comfortably (nothing hard stabbing into your back), each strap is tight, and move the shoulder buckles to the higher locations ... I've jumped and ran with these packs no problem. That 10 mile hike was a breeze.

Giacomo Ravina There is a main pack and assualt pack. Main pack sleeping system and assualt pack is for recon. Most people none military would have no idea how much we carry . This Advanced from Old school we carried 150 lbs and up of gear on standard operating . These new packs place all the weight on the hips and radio size and weight is a fraction of what I use to carry at 80 lbs on top of the assualt and main pack . Now imagine carrying around a 30 lb weapon in a no slinged postion. Developed a pair of guns real quick .

I know that with recent times a lot of us have forgotten, but remember that to be camouflage, something needs only to help conceal you. Camouflage doesn't require multiple colors or patterns. I would agree that MARPAT is superior to a solid coyote brown, but remember that World War II and Vietnam era olive drab still conceals, just as the World War I era khaki uniforms did too. Coyote is the only color found in both MARPAT patterns. It's a beautiful system. I'd choose coyote over ACU any day.

I, by far, prefer the ILBE. It is far more comfortable, and it puts the weight on your hips, where it belongs. Its design is much better for anyone that knows where to stack weight in a ruck.
May god bless you and keep us safe

I had an ALICE pack. I think I would have had a seizure trying to figure this out. Though I remember testing Gen 1 of the MOLLE frame and breaking a bunch of them. New gear definitely seems better, from an 0311 perspective. Even if I have a bunch of seizures.

I acquired a brand new one recently. A full sized suit case has nothing on this. It is all set up, parked and ready to go. Awaiting my next *** deployment😎
Yep that's what I was referring to about the article on how they came to find this color. Always thought that was a neat story.
Wow new gear this is a different gear when I was in from 1993- 1997 , USMC for ever
So funny Love the fact that Marines have this gear. I wonder if the brass take away from them and give them crap to use and use this stuff for inspections. That’s what they did to us. I was watching the Pacific, movie, and realized that in 1966/67 we were using the same gear that Marines used in the Pacific.
Ah yes the chronic back pain setup tutorial, I like that marines just have tan brown, the Army ACU one's I personally find ugly but our new OCP patterned one's I like. To all those who rucked carrying a ruck sack in training or patrols don't worry the VA won't call it service related injuries.

Ok, Devil dogs. Back in 1983 when I was in, we did not have anything that even looked like this. Wish I was in now. We had just the metal frame, nylon alice pack (all, light weight, individual carrying equipment). Oh and we could not have a tattoo. We would get office hours for that one. Semper fi.

the alice is still better this packis a real pain in the ass to adjust on the go and carries weight terrible maybe its beacause im 12? lol but the alice is my favorite 21 miles in both, after about three miles in the straps on this started coming loose but the alice stayed fit the entire 21 miles great pack.
Although, recently retired, how can I get this pack. Standing by. Semper Fi. Chaps+
Coyote is the best color to mach both green and desert cammies the Marine wear. There is an article you can look up about why and how the Marines decided on that color.
I like how they brought ALICE design features into it. Hip belt is still useless with a plate carrier (conveniently skipped in the video). Shoulder and back injuries will continue as long as warfighters are forced to continue to manage loads inefficiently. The Marine in body armor at the end isn't wearing ammo pouches or canteens either. Nice try Marines, but with empty pack weight at 2lbs heavier than the ILBE? Y'all are in the same boat as the Army's MOLLE II. Good luck with that!
He means that this, and other pieces of issued gear, seem like they look good and are functional, but 2 minutes after you start using them they start to either malfunction or epicly fail to serve their purpose, and in the cases of these packs, most of the time end up hurting you.
1:24 his facial expression is no acting when taking it off. Lol. Semper Fi.
Not only does MARPAT look cool, but it does what its is supposed to. In the modern time, I think that keeping at least 1 branch with a digital camo would keep up prepared against countries with the tech digital camo is supposed to counter.
I'm looking into getting a ILBE or a FILBE. Anybody in here do some 15+ mile humps in both? Which is better? I had a ALICE ruck back in the day, need to upgrade.
Honored competition shelf...
1. The method or result of concealing personnel or equipment from an enemy by making them appear to be part of the natural surroundings. -Its still camo by definition, and in reality. There's also this beautiful thing called logistics... Alot easier to produce single-colored gear than digi-cam. I would rather spend less on fancy-colored rucks, then spend the saved $ on things like better food ;)
The ole sink or swim training method, sort of miss those days.
Love your videos im I enlisting in October 2022 I'm 26 yrs old, I have to drop a hundred pounds prior to my enlistment I was looking into Miltary police or Infantry 0311
I attached FILBE frame set with large ALICE bag. but I got a problem. I thought its gonna work good but it feels like the load pushing me backwards..doesn't feel comfortable and carry heavy loads well as I would expected..I adjusted the shoulder straps by watching this video..or is it about the bag itself? you know Large ALICE bag is just wide and bulky. when u load it a lot of stuff, the loads kinda hang backward..
"please not that an instructional card will accompany each pack" sorry to say this, but umm, none of us got an instructional card.
Shout out to CIF for issuing my shit without quick release straps.
COOL
I own one of these rucksacks. and, it's actually not that hard to assemble and convert. just remember the number and letter locations

Ads on this channel? Real fucking classy, Marine Corps.
I stumbled upon this video. I trying to see if i should buy one. I remember humping the old ALICE packs when i was a "green-side" corpsman! 8404! i miss those days when gunny would walk around yelling at you on the hot cooking pan better known as the parade deck while you're assembling your sh*t for gear inspection !! haha When your gear is inspection-ready, he'll still yell at you !!! lol

Yes my lord
Way too complicated with too much ability for configuration. Customization is a good thing dont get me wrong, and the large sustainment pouches can be attached in the ALICE pack fashion but this will adversely appeal to every gear queer out there and you can thus expect your officers to bitch for days on end about no uniformity. That being said the ILBE was awkward, and this frame is comfortable even whilst the flak is worn underneath it.
Way better than the "ILBE" system.

I hope you mean the CFP 90 or the LC 2 Large. To my informal knowledge the US armed forces haven't called any pack a mountain pack since 1945. And officially you know it was called something else. Marpat blends in well with the enviroment, the vest I can understand but for the majority of the past wars there were no camo uniforms and they did fine. I know UCP was horrible and it got soldier's killed

I'm not in the military, but I am a backpacker as well as a former USFS wildland firefighter. This pack system seems overly complicated and heavy. Wasn't the ILBE system adopted because of similar problems that were apparent in the MOLLE system?
If your 782 gear did not include a 'Gladius' and 'Imperial Roman' shield, don't talk to me about the 'old' Corps! ;) Semper Fi! CWO4 USMC [Ret] 1969-2004 MCRD San Diego Plt 2040 Feb - May 69
You'd just have to show them this video. Boots today are conditioned for the internets. And thanks to airsoft and Modern Warfare, most are familiar with the concept of MOLLE webbing and what not. I was with 1/4 when we first got the very first MOLLE packs. Several of us had to take a week long class so we can go train our Marines how to use them and convert from the old ALICE system. That was some shit.
how could you get 45 degree angle on the load lifters? 1606 frame is too short for that matter unless you're really a short torso guy. it is virtually impossible for the most guys in average height. I've seen some video footages of female marines who are short like less than 5'4", they can have some angles on the load lifters.
