Crap that makes me feel really old. All we had was our 782 gear that dated back to Korea and some back to WW II. I was out of the Marine Corps before elements of the ALICE gear started to appear. Okay, old Marine guy time -- bunch of slackers needing things like a frame to carry their gear. I have become such an old salt that I can remember when Christ was a corporal. Semper fi y'all.

Christ was then, and always has been King. and frames keep the Marines back servicable and ready fpr battle and also keeps you ready for the 1st civ div when you do eventually E.A.S. we're you even a grunt? only guys who use the pack as seen in this video are Grunt's Recon, Marine raiders {heard of them?} Artillery L.A.R., or amtrackers perhaps Anglico and a few other units. but most air wingers or motor "T" Marines will rarely use their pack as seen here. that doesnt make em any less of a Marine. anyone who earned the title is a U.S. Marine and thats good enough to be deployed and do your job in peace time or war time. a Marine is a Marine regardless of when he joins. just serve with Honor.

These are exactly what they use at boot camp now, I've never touched the predecessor but this pack has a lot of points of contact. Hip, shoulders, and sternum. As long as your gear is packed tight and comfortably (nothing hard stabbing into your back), each strap is tight, and move the shoulder buckles to the higher locations ... I've jumped and ran with these packs no problem. That 10 mile hike was a breeze.

Giacomo Ravina There is a main pack and assualt pack. Main pack sleeping system and assualt pack is for recon. Most people none military would have no idea how much we carry . This Advanced from Old school we carried 150 lbs and up of gear on standard operating . These new packs place all the weight on the hips and radio size and weight is a fraction of what I use to carry at 80 lbs on top of the assualt and main pack . Now imagine carrying around a 30 lb weapon in a no slinged postion. Developed a pair of guns real quick .

That video was the last of your worries . Yes these videos are for stupid ppl . Watching 4 times cause guy has mono tone voice . Never puts emphasis on the important part of assembly . Worse than watching a air plan video on how to exit the air craft .

I know that with recent times a lot of us have forgotten, but remember that to be camouflage, something needs only to help conceal you. Camouflage doesn't require multiple colors or patterns. I would agree that MARPAT is superior to a solid coyote brown, but remember that World War II and Vietnam era olive drab still conceals, just as the World War I era khaki uniforms did too. Coyote is the only color found in both MARPAT patterns. It's a beautiful system. I'd choose coyote over ACU any day.

I like how they brought ALICE design features into it. Hip belt is still useless with a plate carrier (conveniently skipped in the video). Shoulder and back injuries will continue as long as warfighters are forced to continue to manage loads inefficiently. The Marine in body armor at the end isn't wearing ammo pouches or canteens either. Nice try Marines, but with empty pack weight at 2lbs heavier than the ILBE? Y'all are in the same boat as the Army's MOLLE II. Good luck with that!

I stumbled upon this video. I trying to see if i should buy one. I remember humping the old ALICE packs when i was a "green-side" corpsman! 8404! i miss those days when gunny would walk around yelling at you on the hot cooking pan better known as the parade deck while you're assembling your sh*t for gear inspection !! haha When your gear is inspection-ready, he'll still yell at you !!! lol

Way too complicated with too much ability for configuration. Customization is a good thing dont get me wrong, and the large sustainment pouches can be attached in the ALICE pack fashion but this will adversely appeal to every gear queer out there and you can thus expect your officers to bitch for days on end about no uniformity. That being said the ILBE was awkward, and this frame is comfortable even whilst the flak is worn underneath it.

Way better than the "ILBE" system.

Yeah I think the Utilities is more or less just a uniform theses day's. We don't really fight in area's where we need absolute stealth. Since we mainly use convoys these days to get about.

I was in the corps when they tried Molle (worst pack ever), then they tried the Sally pack (slightly less shitty than Molle). I was fortunate enough to be in a specialized unit where we could use the tried and true Alice Mountain Ruck. I’ve yet to see a back system better than the Mountain Ruck

I hope you mean the CFP 90 or the LC 2 Large. To my informal knowledge the US armed forces haven't called any pack a mountain pack since 1945. And officially you know it was called something else. TBH I heard my CFP called an Alice pack by some guy who claimed 2 tours in Asswipestan. Y'all have a GOODN.

Marpat blends in well with the enviroment, the vest I can understand but for the majority of the past wars there were no camo uniforms and they did fine. I know UCP was horrible and it got soldier's killed

I'm not in the military, but I am a backpacker as well as a former USFS wildland firefighter. This pack system seems overly complicated and heavy. Wasn't the ILBE system adopted because of similar problems that were apparent in the MOLLE system?

You'd just have to show them this video. Boots today are conditioned for the internets. And thanks to airsoft and Modern Warfare, most are familiar with the concept of MOLLE webbing and what not. I was with 1/4 when we first got the very first MOLLE packs. Several of us had to take a week long class so we can go train our Marines how to use them and convert from the old ALICE system. That was some shit.

how could you get 45 degree angle on the load lifters? 1606 frame is too short for that matter unless you're really a short torso guy. it is virtually impossible for the most guys in average height. I've seen some video footages of female marines who are short like less than 5'4", they can have some angles on the load lifters.
